Meet Rebecca Aghalarpour of Sanari Candle Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Aghalarpour.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
On Sunday afternoons my daughter and I have a ritual of lighting a candle, making a pot of tea and baking together. The presence of the candlelight brings a warmth, softness and sweetness to our shared experience and enables us to commune with the moment. I light candles at the dinner table, in my bedroom and when I curl up to read a book. The glow helps me wind down, relax, and get into a meditative mood.

But all of this came to a halt when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I took stock and eliminated all possible toxins from our home. Out went chemical cleaners, unhealthy foods, and it turns out that traditional candles are full of toxic chemicals, like petroleum, dyes, artificial fragrances and animal by-products which go right into the air you breathe. So out went my beloved candles and the beautiful glow that made me so happy.

My daughter and I went back to baking together but I missed the special moment created by the candlelight. Though, I was not going to give this up. I needed to come up with a solution. Years of experience in the world of fragrance and essential oils, and over a year of research in natural waxes, led me to create Sanari Organic Candles – made entirely by plants. I made a Vegan candle! Knowing that burning candles from organic essential oils extracted from plants grown on this earth is healthy and wholesome, my Sunday afternoon baking is once again filled with pure, healing, beautiful light. And so is our home.

For those of you willing to engage in this journey with me, I believe in energy transference. I believe love can be felt and experienced through items such as food and candles if they were made with that intent. It is my intent that you experience the love which flows through my product and receives it in any form you might need at that moment.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The obstacles throughout my journey have been a combination of both on a personal level and product development challenges. On a personal level, I had to be mentally and physically strong during my treatment to push forward in what I believed in making a difference, not only for myself but for everyone else out there. I achieved this through meditation, yoga, walks on the beach, friends and family support, and eating plant-based food.

As for product development, I put in many long hours, along with scientists, to be able to achieve Sanari’s candle, natural plant-based ingredients. Working with natural ingredients is extremely limited yet once achieved, very rewarding. Imagine the process of extracting oils from plants that are only grown on this earth, then blending them to create our own propriety scents. Next, developing an Organic wax which allows us to mix natural oils and to be able to then burn them.

Most importantly our unbleached wide wick (burn to test) that would allow the oils to burn clean, long lasting with a beautiful glow. Also choosing a container that is elegant, comes from recycled glass and is reusable. Every aspect/step of Sanari Candle is well thought out, and it was important for me to have a story and purpose behind it. I had the need to have an environment free from chemicals due to my health and a desire to release the true power of essential oils,

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sanari Candle Company – what should we know?
Sanari Candles, which are made entirely by plants and infused with love and the sole purpose of creating a vessel of healing energy, in its purest form. I created a candle like no other. With decades of experience in the world of fragrance and essential oils, not only did I incorporate organic coconut wax and a newly developed all-cotton wide-wick.

I also use development of a natural process that unlocks the myriad of fragrance notes encased inside essential oils; most notably the sweetness as they are buried beneath the earthy notes and have never been predominantly available in essential oil blends, until now; this is why they play such a glorified, reoccurring, featured role throughout the Sanari collection of candles. We are committed to creating products that goes beyond delivering a unique sensory experience; they truly will enhance your health and well-being.

All of our products are made in California, USA and are USDA Organic, Natural and Kosher Certified, and we comply with all Fair-Trade guidelines. The Sanari difference is we pull from our earth and give back to our earth and to you. We support and work with Organic farmers and are environmentally consciousness and fully sustainable end-to-end. I am passionate about helping women, and with every Sanari Candle purchase, a donation will be made to help support women and Breast Cancer Research.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
It takes talent to recognize another talent and it takes love and passion to create.

Although my health challenge is the reason I created my products, my family played the biggest role in helping me look past it and bring out my creativity and turn it into something positive. While my husband was my backbone, my daughter did not stop cheering me on along the way and till today.

My dear friend Jimmy Belasco guided me throughout the scent decisions and the healing aspect it creates. A family-owned business went out of their way to make sure I have the purest oils available to me in using 100% Plant Based Technology to bring forward the true essence of each of our blended fragrances. My applaud goes out to the Organic farmers whom put so much time and care in providing us with the highest quality organic and green products.

Lastly to all the woman who understand how powerful they are, do not give into envy over meaningless things, Instead, they fight to maintain the beautiful bond and support of each other.
