Meet Rachel Uzeta in The San Fernando Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Uzeta.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rachel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was always someone who loved being photographed even as a kid. I briefly took modeling lessons when I was in elementary school because I liked it so much. I loved to style myself and put together outfits. Throughout my early life and now it was something that always felt really natural to me.

I made my Instagram profile back in 2012, but I started taking my portfolio on that platform more seriously in the summer of 2019. It didn’t really stem from anything other than I really enjoyed taking photos and showcasing my outfits. I love putting together photo shoot ideas, going to locations and just feeling the excitement of getting a good picture. It’s also a perk when other people enjoy what the content I post to Instagram.

I’ve always loved modeling despite that I’m 5’0 ft the world is a lot more progressive than where it was when I was in elementary and middle school. My height isn’t much of a factor for Instagram and also for some modeling jobs nowadays.

As far as how I’ve grown my account and started collaborating with other brands all came down to the dedication I put into my photos. I don’t have the most expensive camera out there or the highest quality editing programs. It’s just me, my phone and my sister who takes the photo. I really dedicate the time to looking for outfit ideas, location ideas and paying attention to my layout on Instagram and planning for the next photo. It’s not just snapping a picture and posting for me. It’s a craft I love doing.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One of the struggles I’ve had to face now that I’ve grown can be this concept of perfectionism that can be a little overbearing. I love everything about modeling and posting to Instagram, but that’s one of the negatives that I’ve embraced about it. I’m not always feeling my best or think that I look my best. It can sometimes be a little overwhelming, but I’ve learned how to manage through it.

Another one of my struggles, and one of the most frustrating at times, is when brands and other influencers do not want to take me seriously because I’m still a micro-influencer. I put out great content. People really give me so much positive feedback. There are some brands that question my credibility and work. There are brands that don’t want to give me credit for my work and it becomes really frustrating.

There has been changes in my personal relationships and building relationships that has changed too since my account has grown. Even though I’m still a small account people have tried to use me for their own gain. I’m not as big as where I hope to be and it’s crazy to see that kind of thing so early on.

Please tell us about your work.
As of right now, I am my own brand and represent myself as a model. With modeling I’ve specialized in styling. Understanding fabrics, patterns, colors and everything that comes with putting together statement pieces is what I can say is my craft. I’ve become most known for my Instagram modeling and aesthetic. People love it and are inspired by it. What I’m most proud of is my work ethic and how I represent myself. I’m dedicated to this. I have a vision of who I want to be and where I want to go and I’m slowly becoming that. What sets me apart is my work ethic. All the outfit planning, the locations I want to go to down to some of the editing is me. I eat, sleep and breathe this because I truly want it.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m a firm believer in the saying that luck is when preparation meets opportunity. I think that every opportunity that has come my way has been something I’ve built myself up to be ready to take on. I wouldn’t say I’ve had bad luck, but I feel like there were opportunities that I haven’t been prepared for that I know will come back around once I am.
