Meet Rachel Gomez of Dorothy Mae & Dominga in Fresno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Gomez.

Rachel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Dorothy Mae & Dominga was founded in honor of my Grandmother’s 11 years ago. Blessings, my name is Rachel Wafer, owner of Dorothy Mae & Dominga in honor of my Grandmother’s over 11 years ago. The mission is to help you find the connection mind, body, spirit to the Earth. Based in Fresno, California, there is a deep connection with the abundance of healing, which can be found in clay, flowers, seasonal fruits, and roots. We’re proud to offer the highest organic quality, seasonally appropriate skincare products on the market today. From our family to yours, we put lots of divine intent, love and careful attention to each item. We hope you enjoy our work as much as we enjoy bringing it to you.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it definitely has been a labor of beautiful work. With the market being so saturated with skin wellness, it has taken some time for me to find my way as a small business one of the biggest challenges is not having access to all the resources which larger companies have. I never allowed this to slow my process just looked at it as a growth for my small business. I’ve had products stolen from shows, recipes copied, and last minutes cancellations. I’ve learned to appreciate these moments because it is all in divine timing.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Dorothy Mae & Dominga – what should we know?
My business is all about helping you find the connection mind, body, spirit to the Earth by offering made to order organic skincare. From serums, toners, facial masks, exfoliating scrubs, and whipped butter it is all about divine love and intent from start to finish. Meditating an hour before I make any products to ensure to you the best experience possible.

The top sellers are the Mila turmeric and honey mask, Saving Grace Everyday Oil, Oh Oh Marley Whipped Shea, and anyone of the exfoliating scrubs. I’m most proud of the legacy I’m leaving in the lives of others. To have each customer find what has already been within by using my products. The smiles are radiating back at me in photos, reviews, and hugs.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Credit will always be great given to my companies namesakes, my Grandmother’s whose recipes I’ve been entrusted with. It is there light and love which illuminated my path. God, who placed within in me the ability to illuminate to others by offering love in a jar.

My daughter, Brianna, who was my wiped away my tears when some times got tough. Who encourages me every step of the way. Tests products are giving me the most honest feedback. To my family, who supported me by buying my vendor tents, tables, etc. calling me before each show to give prayers and love. My customers who are basically extended familia. They shared, posted, told someone they loved, and genuinely believe in DMD.
