Meet Queen Harper of QH BEAUTY

Today we’d like to introduce you to Queen Harper.

Queen, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Would you believe me if I told you I wanted to be a doctor? Lol, I was actually in the IB program at my school, taking classes to prepare me for my career in medicine, it was actually the PREDP program which prepared you in 9th and 10th grade for the program your junior and senior year.

My junior year, I ended up transferring school and because I had previously been in an advanced program had the opportunity to take electives and I could switch out those elections to go to vocational school and learn a trade. That’s where my passion for hair was ignited. I ended up with an amazing teacher where we won local, state and placed 8th in national which was utterly amazing! That drive allowed me to go on and find my niche which is hair extensions and wigs/ clip-ins! I took a class with one of the top celebrity wig makers @thehairdiagram and that’s all the wrote! I was able to tour with her a few years ago and assist her in her classes as she taught and we went nationwide traveling across the country it was amazing, because of that I was able to nurture my talents, I got featured on lots of Instagram pages for my work not only for wigs but vibrant colors and precision cuts and people just started referring people to me, and here I am, still traveling and setting up a retail store in my home town down south where we make, sell and maintenance wigs to women of all shapes and sizes.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say this was probably one of the bumpiest roads I have ever been on. But the most rewarding. Some of the struggles along the way were keeping motivated/staying positive even when things weren’t going the way that you wanted them to go always looking at the upside and pushing through. And another struggle is letting go of relationships that no longer serve you, As you continue to grow and be successful you want people to grow around you but that’s not always the case and one thing that is constant is change and you have to be willing to change and grow even if it means it’s with less people.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in providing the most realistic wigs to women of all backgrounds and I’m especially known for my color combinations and cutting skills! I’m so proud of the strides we have made as a small company! We continue to bring innovation to wig wearing and make it easier for our clients to be able to have wigs that font looks like wigs!

What were you like growing up?
As a kid, I was really reserved and to myself but I played sports lol so it was kinda opposite I was on swim team, volleyball, cheerleading, honor classes lol but I liked to be by myself. A popular introvert. I honestly don’t remember a lot but I remember that.
