Meet Priyan Chandraratna of Alfred House Productions in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priyan Chandraratna.

Priyan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am actually a licensed attorney, and I founded my company, Alfred House Productions, as a passion project and the company grew from there.

After litigating for several years, I felt that many of my natural talents and skills were not being utilized and that my creative energy was not being properly harnessed. Therefore, I searched for a way to combine the skill set I developed as a lawyer along with my innate creative abilities. Event production and design proved to be the best of both worlds. I use my skills as a lawyer to negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers as well as grow my business. Simultaneously, my creative aptitude is harnessed into designing spectacular events by choosing and creating the perfect floral design, lighting, entertainment, etc.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nobody ever said the life of an entrepreneur was easy! Starting and running a small business comes with a plethora of challenges. From cultivating clients to building a team and managing business development there is always something to be done. What I love about what I do is that every day is different. I love the mix of direct client relations and internal work to develop my brand.

Alfred House Productions – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Alfred House Productions (AHP) is a full-service event production and design company. Specifically, we produce everything from spectacular weddings to unique social events. We truly love all of our clients but we do specialize in fabulous weddings for same-sex couples as well as chic ethnic wedding celebrations. We also love our marquee birthday parties as well as corporate events such as stellar product launches.

We also design stunning interiors and florals and can also provide personalized lifestyle and travel consulting.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I’m in the business of celebrations. At the end of the day, we will remember the most joyous moments of our lives: our wedding day, our 50th birthday bash, the book signing from our first publication, our child’s sweet 16. I feel grateful that my clients entrust me with the task of curating these special memories for them. I measure my success by the joy I can bring my clients. All the hard work and long hours pay off when I see my clients’ happy faces at the end of an event. I am an ambitious business person and want to grow my company by other metrics as well, but the real goal is to spread the joy!
