Meet Pilar Chandler of Shri Veda Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pilar Chandler.

Pilar, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a Hawaiian native, raised on the beaches of Southern California, the sun, the sand and the Pacific make my heart beat. As a modern Medicine Woman, I have been studying, for as long as I can remember, subjects such as, herbalism, meditation, spirituality and natural healing. I was a young, natural witch, learning about the wheel of the year and seasons as early as 11 years old.

My journey as a healer began early in life with plants, herbs, stones and nature. It was the home birth of my Daughter in 1996 that opened my mind to the magic and power of birth and the impact of REAL women’s health and care. When it came to raising my daughter, I was a bit of a firebrand in my family; insisting on organic and a chem-free household, attachment parenting and Waldorf education. However, for my formal training I began as a massage therapist in 1999, this allowed me to support myself, raise my daughter and continue my education. I went on to become a Holistic Health Practitioner and began to teach massage therapy. I have taught hundreds of therapists throughout Orange and San Diego Counties for over 10 years. I was awarded in 2011 “Teacher of the Year” from Healing Hands School of Holistic Heath.

Within that time, I discovered Ayurveda as a Dharma path for me. I graduated with honors from Mount Madonna where my teachers were the most distinguished in their field; Dr. Lad, Dr. John Douillard, and Dr. Shrestha to name a few.

Upon graduating, I opened Shri Veda Wellness and began to incorporate Ayurveda into my healing practice.

Shortly after, my daughter and I took a radical sabbatical to travel South America for a year. Here I met and apprenticed with some amazing midwives and healers. In 2012 we returned and I decided to focus my practice on Women’s health. I have a very unique approach and effective methods to support pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, sexual dysfunction, fertility challenges, prenatal / postpartum, breast health, menopause and more!

I use methods from traditional Ayurveda, diet, lifestyle, health coaching, meditations, counseling, herbal healing with personalized formulas and plenty, plenty, plenty of body work.

I absolutely LOVE what I do…from helping a young woman understand her cycle and manage her symptoms without drugs, to supporting couples in their first successful conscience conception to healthy pregnancy and motherhood to healthy vibrant sex lives and menopause!

At the heart of my life, I am a healer, and more so, I am a facilitator. I hold much knowledge and experience in creating the space and the environment for your healing and wholeness. Holistic health, wellness and natural living isn’t just what I do for a living – it’s who I am, inspired by wholeness and passionate to share it with others.

Has it been a smooth road?
Being a healer means you are always looking at yourself. Doing the deep work so that you are a channel and not a projection for your clients. Diving deep, looking at your own shadow and doing the hard work. There have been many a “dark night of the soul” in my journey.

Walking the walk and talking the talk, authenticity is crucial. For me in my practice is it anyway. I will ask you the hard questions… but believe me I would only ask them of myself first.

Aside from the shadow work that is required to do this type of work, learning how to hold boundaries for myself is constantly evolving. Learning how to care for myself as best I can so I can show up for my clients as whole and complete as possible… I am also a growing, breathing being who is constantly changing, as is my self-care.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Shri Veda Wellness – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a Holistic Women’s Health Specialist. I help women with menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, fertility, pre / post-natal care and more!

What sets me apart are my effective methods that are completely unique. As far as I know there isn’t another practitioner that works the way I do in Southern Californian. I am working on a program to change that!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most?
The Ocean… Mama Pacifica!

I have moved a few times to incredibly beautiful places, wanting to escape the hustle and bustle. Every time I come right back. There is nothing like it anywhere else for me.

And community! I have met and connected with the most amazing people here in Southern California… unlike anywhere else. The friendships and support, my spiritual community, my surf sisters, all from here!
