Meet Patrick Molloy Bastian of Patrick Molloy’s in Hermosa Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Molloy Bastian.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Patrick. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Patrick Molloy’s was founded in 1996 by my father Bill Bastian and mother Alice Bastian. My mother and father were divorced at the time and my mom remarried Fred Hahn who became a partner in the business. My father and mother had previously owned The Grunions in Manhattan Beach and The End-Zone in Hermosa Beach. When they lost the lease for The End-Zone they moved the liquor license a few buildings down to its current location and my dad named it Patrick Molly’s after me. We started out as an upscale steak house but evolved into a more casual beach/pub with live music dancing DJs and premium sports viewing with over 40 HD flat screens. We are constantly evolving with our changing demographic and making updates. We just recently installed a state of the art sound system and lighting for dancing and bands. We take pride in what we call elevated pub fare and have a menu featuring ahi tuna salads and traditional burgers along with some old Irish favorites like homemade shepherd’s pie. Our breakfast/brunch is very popular every Saturday and Sunday from 9-12. we have unlimited mimosas with breakfast as well as bloody Mary and screwdriver pitchers. We have every sports package imaginable and also show all UFC and pay per view events. We are a great hybrid combining just about every aspect you can think of so we have something for everyone!

Has it been a smooth road?
No. When we first opened up, the promenade was under construction and there was essentially no front entrance. The construction kept getting delayed and was like that for almost two years. Hermosa beach at the time wasn’t looking for an upscale steakhouse either so we changed the theme around and business took off. But before that we were probably a few months away from shutting the doors completely.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Patrick Molloy’s – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We really pride ourselves and stand apart by offering something for everyone. We have great live bands on Wednesday nights, and DJ and dancing on all other nights. We our known for not having a bad seat in the house to view all sporting events on over 40 HD flat screens. Our Monday Night football is huge with happy hour from open to close 25 cent wings and tons of giveaways like flat screens beach cruisers and even cruises to Mexican Rivera. Our patio is a great place to sit and people watch and catch some sun. Saturday and Sundays are a must for breakfast and brunch with Bloody Mary pitchers and screwdrivers. We are known for Sunday Fundays, Happy Hour from 8-cl and a great one man acoustic act named Wise that starts at 5 pm followed by a great DJ Joe Fish to keep the party going all night.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Hermosa Beach, I was born and raised here and it’s an honor to operate a business in my home city. I love the outdoors and being in the ocean. I have a real sense of what our clientele wants because being 31 and from Hermosa Beach I am part of the clientele.
