Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Samaroo.
Hi Paige, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Starting THE GEM PALETTE was just a thought back in 2018 — however, I didn’t know what starting my own jewelry company would entail and I kind of let that thought dwindle until we hit January 2020 right before the pandemic changed all of our lives. I think seeing how much my parents loved jewelry became more apparent to me the older I got, and I felt like I wanted to spruce up my wardrobe and look with age as well. When I started doing my research on how to work with vendors and design my own pieces there was no stopping me after that. Building my own business stemmed from me feeling like a did not belong when working with other businesses — so I decided to create my own world where I knew I could thrive and experience great things with a great team.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
THE GEM PALETTE has not and is not as prestige as it looks behind closed doors, HAHA! I have definitely had long, long nights looking for the perfect everything and long, long days figuring at what type of mood I wanted to set for the long haul. I have a tendency of changing things up all the time and dabbling into new things….so I really and truly wanted to take my time with creating TGP before introducing her to the public! It was definitely a surreal moment when I hit the launch button!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
This is a tricky question because I never ever subject myself to doing one thing. As an entrepreneur, I do a little bit of everything that keeps a smile on my face. Of course it’s not always easy, but as long as it remains enjoyable, I’m there. To say the least, I love creating purposeful content and I love getting my hands in the mix of things when it comes to art! I went to school for Photography & Journalism, and those two skills always come in handy with my new baby TGP. I’ve always been known for my photographs and the memories I capture for people. I’m most proud of the growth that’s happened in this vessel over the years & where I stand today. I’m also extremely proud to say that I’m a business owner of not a company I just threw together but took my time studying and building! And I’m still building.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
What I define as success is true happiness and that is all. If my business fell down (which isn’t the plan, but if it did) I’d be okay. If someone tells me no? It’s okay. If someone judges me? It’s okay — because not only am I known to be resilient, but I’m known to pick myself up at all times because I know any situation that’s given to me isn’t too big for me to handle. I always keep the faith and the love frontline!
