Today we’d like to introduce you to Og Serg.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Back in 2010 a good friend of mine came to Las Vegas for a “DJ” convention/reunion. I was invited to come along and hang out as a guest which I thought was real cool. As we was hanging out, one of the DJ’s had mentioned that they had the tables set up in room and we should all go “cut it up” as us DJ’s like to call it. About 15-20 DJ’s were all packed up in this room. Everyone was having fun taking turns cutin and scratchin and all, then it was my turn. Although I wasn’t as good as them, I still gave it a try plus they still showed me a few things and told me to just keep practicing, which I thought was very encouraging. So that’s just what I did!. Not even a week later I went and bought me two technics 1200’s, a mixer and hurt the wifey’s ears till I got real good. Lol I started with backyard BBQ’s and house party’s, to wedding’s, birthday’s, graduations, Christmas party’s stuff like that.
Nowadays, I’m following my dream, performing at Cannabis/Glass Blowing events. And it’s great! I was DJ’in a comedy show with Stoner Rob when I met a man by the name of J.C. Colts. J.C. mentioned that he had heard a lot about me and that it was finally good to meet me. I was like whoa! This is the guy that owns Culture And Cannabis! He told me he was looking for a good DJ for his events and then he said; I think I just found what I was looking for. He gave me a $100 bill and said it’s tip for a job well done that night. Here’s my number call me tomorrow. The rest is history. I am now the official DJ for Culture And Cannabis Las Vegas and have been for the last two years! I am forever grateful that I have crossed paths with so many amazing people on this journey such as J.C. Colts.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, the road has been rough. The DJ industry is very competitive business. You have DJ’s who take short cuts, burn bridges, do bad business and that kinda hurts the one’s like me who do this for a living.
OG SERG 1200 The Cannabis DJ – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business/company is OG SERG 1200. I specialize in creating the vibes for your party and keep you and your party dancing to the beat. Turntablism is what I do. I mix cut and scratch to the music. I’m proud of all the hard work and countless hours I put into myself to do this. It’s taught me so much! I started DJ’in small house party’s weddings, graduations and so forth. Now I’m doing bigger events in the Cannabis Industry. I am now known as The Cannabis DJ here in Las Vegas! Shout out to all my stoners who gave me that title! I’m really proud of that title as people say that I am one of the biggest smokers out here in the industry/community. I think what sets me apart from other DJ’s is my select of music. I play different. I’m definitely not the average DJ. Since I’m self-taught and all. I was never given the “DJ” name so I decided to keep it OG SERG instead of DJ SERG. Back when I was growing up you had to earn “DJ” to be in your name. Now you can buy a computer, a controller and call yourself a DJ.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Hmm. How dose OG SERG define success?
Everyone’s definition of success is different, but here’s what I’ve found to be true. Real successful people tend to be way more happy simply because they love what they do, not just how much money is in the bank. Successful people help others learn to be successful. Successful people will motivate and inspire others. That’s me and thats the kind of people I want to attract in my life. O.Q.P. “Only Quality People”
