Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Bacon.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Nikki. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I graduated from California State University Long Beach with my Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art and Concentration in Photography in 2011 and since, have been striving to continue building my photography business. Up until my senior year of high school, I was very undecided about what my major would be in college until I took my very first photography class and fell in love with the magic of the dark room. Since then, I have taken a number of photography courses including black and white dark room photography, digital and studio photography, and computer art.
Photography is truly something I consider to be a passion of mine and I strive for my love of photography to be reflected in every image that I take. The philanthropist in me is the reason why I’ve kept my pricing so low in comparison to other photographers in the area. I enjoy working with low income families and students. There’s nothing more heartwarming for me than filling someone’s home with images that they would not otherwise be able to afford.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of my favorite quotes is “don’t quit your daydream”. Since the day I fell in love with photography, I knew I wanted to have my own company. Instead of working for a generic studio, I wanted the freedom to express my creativity and passion in my images. When I was first starting my business, I did all of my sessions for free in order to build my portfolio and a good reputation within my community. Now, even though I charge for my work, it’s a constant struggle to not only continue the growth of my clientele but to keep my current network coming back for more.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Nikki Bacon Photography – what should we know?
Being a business owner is an accomplishment in itself, but what I’m most proud of is the fact that I have never compromised my dream. Every day I try to do at least one thing to better my business, whether it’s making a post on social media or reaching out to past clients. It’s important to always work hard toward your dreams or you’ll be working hard towards someone else’s.
I specialize in senior portraits, weddings and events but I shoot a very broad spectrum of images from newborns, to LinkedIn headshots, and audition portraits for aspiring professional dancers. I even have clients on the Clippers spirit, Laker girl and Rams and Charger Cheerleader teams! In addition, I have never turned a client down, even if it’s something I’ve never shot before… I’m always up for a challenge! I offer a 100% money back guarantee, but I’m happy to say that all of my clients have been satisfied. I strive to provide my clients with the best customer service possible. With my outgoing and friendly personality, I’m even able to get the most camera-shy people to smile!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I am so incredibly fortunate to have a mom who has believed in me and supported me during all of my ambitions in life. Because of her, I was able to focus on launching and growing my business instead of paying my bills. She calls it making a business investment, I call it being the best mom in the world.

I have known her Mother for many years. She is extremely proud of her girls and blessed to have them.

I met Nikki through my brother. She took pictures of my kids, ages 6-14, and did a wonderful job. My family asked for copies of their picture. My kids were completely enamored with her and she captured each of them perfectly with her lens.
