Meet Neeta Mittal of LXV Wine in Paso Robles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Neeta Mittal.

Neeta, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Small towns in India are a vibrant fabric of cultures, old traditions, new ideas, intimate social circles, and individual personalities. That was my childhood – there was a constant endeavor to excel, and a burning desire to express. Decades later, LXV Wine became an amalgamation of my experiences and my passions.

Being one of the first Indian women to own a winery in the US, that was named in the Top- 10 tasting experiences in America by USA Today, comes with a lot of responsibility! I have to answer more questions on Culture than Vintages, on Food than Wine, on Inspirations than Medals 🙂

That is because brands have evolved from being mere products to being an experience. When the customer picks up a bottle of wine, they are counting on an extended experience to elevate their personal moments. With wines from the coveted appellations and intoxicating spice pairings that heighten the palate, LXV has carved a name for creating a memorable experience.

Having honed the craft of storytelling in Hollywood, through various projects, I understand the magic of a personal brand. And having worked in the independent movie circle, I appreciate the strength of a community. Combining the two has created an unstoppable momentum for LXV.

The ultimate goal is to create a movement that inspires and heightens moments, and that transcends the personal, business, and community.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A road that is less traveled is never smooth. SO the challenges that come along the way are really not so much struggles as they are about finding solutions to get to the next level.

Being an Indian woman in a largely white-male dominated arena could have been a hurdle – but the way we positioned LXV, with the spice pairings, there was no room for comparison. Our “unlikeliness” in the wine industry became our biggest asset.

Please tell us about LXV Wine.
LXV Wine is a unique Wine Tasting and Spice Pairing experience, with premium wines focusing on Willow Creek Appellation and other coveted vineyards in Paso Robles, California. The wines are old-world in style with great emphasis on acidity and balance.

Named Top 10 Wine Tasting Experiences in America by USA Today, and rated as one of the best wineries in Paso Robles on Yelp, Google, and Trip Advisor, our Wine Tastings and Spice Pairings are a deep dive into the varied sub-appellations, the influence of weather, selection of clones, and the old-world philosophy of winemaking. Each LXV Wine is paired with a blend of spices, curated in-house that mirrors complement, and sometimes contrasts flavors in the wine, thereby heightening the wine tasting experience.

We recently introduced the LXV Tasting Palette (Box) that captures this award-winning Wine Tasting experience in a box for Virtual Wine Tastings. This virtual event has become popular with social circles and also for corporate connections and team building.

The newly planted Armaa.N (dreams) vineyard in the heart of Willow Creek boasts of organic farming methods and unparalleled clones of To Kolan for Cabernet Sauvignon, Loire Valley for Cabernet FRanc, Brunello for Sangiovese, and the best Paso Robles Syrah clone of 470.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Morning walks with my dad through the University Campus with small lakes to circle and peacocks to keep you company. But more than the ambiance, what I loved was the time I shared with my dad. In India, fathers are supposed to play a very stoic role with very little room for vulnerability. That one hour in the morning, I was able to get my father in his element – caring, inquisitive, joyful – until he had to return to the world stage. Now that we are continents apart, he faces times when he walks in the mornings so that we get to reminisce a few moments of our best time together.
