Meet Nayra Toledo and Carlos Cortez of NPD Events in Based in Tustin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nayra Toledo and Carlos Cortez.

Nayra and Carlos, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We, Carlos and Nayra, founded NPD Events in 2012. We were introduced through mutual friends while we were individually planning their weddings. Very early on in our friendship, we realized that we both had a passion and vision for weddings and events. This is when NPD Events was born. Our first event was a 475-guest count wedding which was a pretty large undertaking for such a young company, but we planned and executed a beautiful wedding. This was the point where we really knew that this dynamic duo was in it to win it.

Honestly, we had no idea that we were going to grow as much as we have and we feel so blessed. Throughout the years, we have ensured to always make every event one to remember. We have had the opportunity to make so many couples happy and that is the main reason why we do what we do.

Has it been a smooth road?
There have definitely been obstacles along the way, but we feel that those have made us grow as a team. When faced with difficult situations, we always stop and analyze the situation and try to find the best solution. A good example of some obstacles is when challenged with a new design that might incorporate a cultural aspect that we have never done before. Luckily for us, we are both very resourceful and creative individuals.

The University of Google has helped us many times! We are always learning and growing and thrive on these challenges. Sometimes we are faced with situations where our couples vision is not in line with the venue’s policies, but there is always a compromise. Somethings are out of your hands, but we do whatever we can to try to overcome the situation. We are truly blessed to have such a strong support system and that has definitely helped us overcome the obstacles.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We like to think of ourselves as a one-stop shop, we do everything you need for your event. We plan your event from A-Z, including Invitations, floral designs, and coordination.

What sets us apart is the relationship that we build with our clients. We help the bride pick out her dress, bridesmaids dresses, and the groom’s tux. We go out to dinner and get to know our clients on a more personal level. Our brides and grooms become a part of our daily life.

We are known for our generosity, not monetary, but emotional. The more we get to know our couple, the more personalized we make their event. Our floral work speaks volume, we tend to undersell and over deliver. It’s what makes us. We are not two people working together for you, we are a team, family, we are YOU.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
It’s definitely tough starting a business, especially when you’ve never done it before. We are blessed that we know the city we live in, and are able to branch out and reach out to people. Invest in the city you live in. It’s more rewarding.
