Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Ellis.
Natasha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
What an awesome experience to celebrate my two years anniversary of living in Los Angeles being able to take part in this magazine. I am so excited to have the chance to have space held for the everyday person seeing the value in a person’s journey. My name is Natasha and I am originally from the motor city, Detroit Michigan. I made the decision to move after a lifetime of pinning away and dreaming about someday living in California which is where I felt called to be. I moved to learn about film and pursue my craft of acting and grow and expose my business brand to even larger markets.
I am a theater actress, entrepreneur, and a Mental health Professional. I am a woman who is in long term recovery from Mental illness and addiction who took those struggles and circumstances to become a Mental Health and Addiction specialist. I learned in this journey that my career and my craft are intertwined. My scope of practice within mental health is teaching laughter Yoga to survivors. Helping people explore an alternative way to approach and navigate life and healing is the twin flame to my passion for performance art. Performing is more than an expression of who I am; it’s how I navigate through life, make sense of experiences, and commune with life and my divinity.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The path to where I am at this moment hasn’t been easy in anyway. In my coming of age years, I had like most hopeful youths plans of what I wanted to do and when and of course life had another vision for me. I wanted to move to Los Angeles when I was much younger and had a certain look that would be more conducive for the film industry then. I had to grow first, heal from things first, and find out who I was before the universe made a way for me to make it here. It wasn’t easy to wait on the concept of timing when I saw others doing what I’d long for but I’m grateful for it now. The bumps and bruises I experienced transitioning to LA were just an inconvenience for me instead of the certain catastrophe it would have been if I’d had my way.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Striving for Serenity Brand story. Tell us more about the business.
