Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Sevilla.
Nancy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was studying Animation and VFX in Chicago at the time I started my blog and wanted a creative outlet to showcase my stylish outfits and my take on with unique city fashion. With the influence of my friends and my blogger inspiration idols, Song of Style and Dulce Candy; I decided to create a blog in 2012.
Though I was clueless about what I was doing, it was fun; and I loved being able to meet more like-minded people through it all. In 2015, I made the big move to Los Angeles and continued to pursue my blogging passion. From when I’ve moved to now, I would say the success of my blog has grown rapidly.
I definitely would say that moving to LA has been a huge help with growing; as there are way more opportunities and events happening here than there was in Chicago. I also started with fashion and now branched out to also fitness, skincare, travel, and overall lifestyle topics. These last few years, I have had many amazing opportunities that I am extremely grateful for. It has definitely been a journey and I look forward to seeing what’s next!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like anything, there are always going to be ups and downs. However, without these struggles, I would have never learned and it’s only made me stronger in the end.
In the industry, you definitely come across an interesting crowd – if I am being honest, most of the people live up to LA’s reputation. Not everyone in the industry is nice – or real. In other words, to be in this industry (and I’m sure in most others too) you have to have thick skin, not let it get to you and just live your life.
Also, having thick skin when it comes to getting rejected by brands and PR agencies. A good way to look at it is, not every brand fits your brand, and if they don’t want to work with you, there is always going to be something better out there for you. You just have to patient and try to be as positive as possible. 🙂
Fancy Nanc-ista – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Blogger/Content Creator; my brand focuses on Fashion, Fitness, Travel, and Lifestyle. I am known as a Fashion Blogger but now that I am focusing on more travel, I feel as if people are now recognizing me more as a Travel Blogger.
I am most proud of my overall journey, especially in Travel. I started focusing on Travel about two years ago and to look back and see how far I have come, it’s so incredibly crazy and sometimes I have “pinch me” moments! I have said this before, but I am honestly truly grateful for all the amazing opportunities I have received (big or small), every bit counts!
I would say what sets me apart is I try to just be transparent and real about my everyday life and I love being able to share my own opinions and what really happens behind the scenes – I think it’s important to do that as social media can really cover up reality.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is living the life you want and desire – and not one that you just settle for. If you are living your best life, then you are truly successful.
I set goals big or small for myself, and hope to accomplish them all.
