Meet Mid City Photographer: Gabriel Sergent

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Sergent.

Gabriel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Granada, I began my photographic career with excellent references stemming from the exhibitions. I started very young, influenced by my father and my love for the simplicity of a world in Black and White. At mid-career, I traveled to England to achieve a higher degree in Photography, Video and Lens and I discovered the beauty of a Nude and Erotic photographic world immersed in the dark, contrast and macabre scene. On my return to Spain, in Granada, I completed the career and moved to Madrid to achieve an International Master of Photography, “New Documentation”, and I began to work thoroughly in the ambiance of Erotic and Nude Films. I moved to Berlin for two years doing photographic exhibitions, finally, I moved to Ibiza three years ago. Right now living between Ibiza and Los Angeles.

Has it been a smooth road?
It wasn´t easy, to live just with the photography you need to work hard!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Very big changes. Actually, I’m working in Ibiza with SelectoIbiza, a techno music company, traveling around Europe but in the future, I want to have a big Audiovisual and photographic company.

Let’s explore some of the challenges you’ve faced along the way. What was the most difficult part of your career so far?
I had a big depression illness in 2008/2009 studying in the UK, that changes everything in my mind in time to do the pictures and visuals, I started to do nude and dark pictures, then I started to build my style….

Do you ever feel like “Wow, I’ve arrived” or “I’ve made it” or do you feel like the bulk of the story is still unwritten?
It was this year, I was working in a porn company with my ex-girlfriend doing audiovisual and photography. We have 4 nominations to the Ninfa Awards in Spain. Hope to win all the Nominations, proud of it.
