Meet Matt Ranaudo and Collin Monahan of Brother Stone & the Get Down in Encino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Ranaudo and Collin Monahan.

Matt and Collin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We are first cousins but grew up like brothers. We started out on the east coast and soon had opportunities in LA. We were able to put together an amazing group of musicians a record our first studio ep!

Quitting our day jobs and packing what we could, we drove across the country to make this happen! This past year has been a big one for Brother Stone & The Get Down as they have collected millions of online streams and tens-of-thousands of followers/subscribers. They are creating a powerful presence on the internet and have built a highly engaged following which continues to grow daily. Their original music has been featured on blogs and quality music channels across the internet including Music Life and We Plug Good Music. They have recorded with legendary musicians like former “Police” drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, Abe Laboriel Sr., and the late “Stevie Wonder” trumpet player Steve Madaio. The two possess one of the most interesting and eclectic writing styles of the new age that unite multiple genres such as pop, singer-songwriter, soul, folk, funk in a way that is seldom heard today.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road is certainly not smooth but it’s very rewarding.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
We specialize in making music. As a band for our original project and for tv and movies as well. We have an amazing home studio where most of our bandmates live and work out of. We have built up an incredible following on YouTube we are very proud of! With over 3 million streams and over 20 thousand subscribers in little over a year! We are very excited for 2020!!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Consistency and determination! You hear a lot of “no’s” and “you can’t do that” is this business. It’s important to keep moving and believe in what you’re doing!
