Today we’d like to introduce you to Marrin Costello. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Marrin Costello is an American businesswoman, designer, and brand architect. Her career as a creative began at age seven, after receiving a bead kit for Christmas. Selling her creations at San Francisco Bay Area craft faires and local boutiques while in grammar school, Costello’s love for both business and fashion were realized at a very young age. While studying at UCLA, Costello’s creations were featured on American Idol — and a business was born. Less than a decade later, a childhood hobby transformed into a global luxury lifestyle brand — with jewelry at its core. The MC collection has since garnered a cult following of customers, brand ambassadors, and celebrities — and has also been featured in Vogue, In Style, GQ, and Cosmopolitan, among many other publications.
Costello’s women-owned-and-operated team is now headquartered in Tampa, Florida. At the center of the MARRIN COSTELLO® brand is a mission to be socially and environmentally conscious, give back, and help people feel fearless and fabulous when they wear the collection.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With over two decades building the Marrin Costello Jewelry brand, business, and community, there have of course been so many challenges — even on a daily basis. However, as a very proactive and tenacious team, we do not focus on things that may have gone wrong. On the contrary, the brand as a whole focuses on troubleshooting and resolving any challenges we may face and moving on quickly, with a growth mindset at the forefront of everything we do.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What started as a childhood hobby has transformed into a multifaceted international business — with jewelry at its core. The company now has three prongs — a jewelry brand, a radio show, and a business consulting firm. With the Marrin Costello Radio podcast, we focus on having intentional conversations with impactful people. With the consulting business, I guide and support other entrepreneurs from both a creative and financial standpoint to make sure their businesses are truly thriving from a holistic perspective. And lastly, our jewelry brand has been coined as ‘The Little Black Dress of Jewelry Brands.’ It is truly a bulletproof, one stop shop jewelry brand for exceptional quality pieces that are hypoallergenic, water resistant, non tarnish, and fully sustainable. Not only is each piece available in both gold and silver (quite a unique quality in the jewelry design space) — but we also plant a tree for every single piece of jewelry sold, even through our wholesale partners. I am so proud that all facets of the Marrin Costello brand have catered to white space and served a purpose in each respective industry.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Tampa Bay and the Tampa community at large. Not only is the greater culture a beautiful mix of east coast hustle and the southern hospitality, but the Tampa Bay entrepreneurial community is so well-rounded and multifaceted. Not only do folks work very hard and still have social lives, but they are also very philanthropic with their business endeavors. I am so grateful to now be both personally and professionally based in Tampa.
