Meet Marisa Daniels-Frank of Botanica 805

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisa Daniels-Frank.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Marisa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My passion for holistic living, nutrition, health and wellness began at a young age. I grew up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas where I developed a deep love for nature. I became interested in plants and herbs that help support a healthy way of life. As my interest in health and wellness grew, I pursued a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Still, I had an interest in plants, herbs, and essential oils, so I educated myself more on the topic. My love for food and nutrition, cooking, recipe development, and all things natural pushed me to experiment in recipe development of candle making and bath and body products. Finally, I had found my niche. I began selling my products at an acupuncture office in Arroyo Grande where I still presently work. A friend thought my product was a great idea and offered to sell them in her yoga studio. Now my products are in local shops from Cambria, and down the Central Coast to Los Angelos. I wouldn’t be here without all of the supportive people in my life, so thank you, you all know who you are.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I had to overcome my fear of marketing myself and my products. I’ve never been a salesperson in any sense of the word, but I believe in my products, so that inspired me to get out there and hit the pavement. Also, I could not have braved the storm without my husband at my side. He has been very supportive of my business. In the beginning, he would come along with me to market my products in case I was too nervous to do it myself. I think that having him there with me was my motivation. Once I got myself to the door, I was somehow able to muster up the courage to share my knowledge with others about my products

Please tell us about Botanica 805.
Botanica 805 was inspired by a love for all natural botanical goods that aim to support the whole living. Our handcrafted apothecary products are made in small-batches where craft and attention to detail ensure the quality of the final product. We also believe in doing our part to make it a better planet.

We donate to Trees for the Future. For every candle that is purchased, we plant a tree!

All of our products are made with pure essential oils and natural aroma oils, plant-based butter, mineral-rich clays and salts, and botanical extracts, most of them organic. Our product packaging is eco-friendly. We use recycled glass containers, reusable metal tins, organic cotton bags, plantable wildflower seed paper labels, and kraft lip balm tubes. Our products are all free of phthalates, parabens, artificial dyes, and colorants.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the process thus far, and I wouldn’t change anything. Each part of the journey has led me to where I am now and I am very grateful for that.
