Today we’d like to introduce you to Marina Micanovic.
Marina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been in fashion for almost ten years and I started building my fashion brand in Serbia. After two fashion shows at NYFW and the big challenge that this city offer, I decided to try and start my own fashion story right here in NYC. My design belongs to this city for its unusual shapes and aesthetics. It is also a classic and is determined by its uniqueness. Now I live and work my dream, in the center of fashion and design. I presented my new collection, Design’n’way, Fall/Winter 2019, on NYFW on September and in Paris as well. The way of getting all of this is full of challenges, enjoying in the process, and it’s not so easy. Big dreams ask for it.
Can you talk to us a bit about those challenges ?
I like challenges. I fell that I’m growing on that way, in personally and professionally way. It easier when I have vision of my way of my work. It’s not always smooth, and process can be really hard, full of struggles, but then I know that I’m on good way, and I see a lot opportunities to move forward and to not give up. I strong believe in my way, and in all what I’m doing. My designs come from my visions and my intuition. That is the smooth part of road, and everything else is easier, as a technical thinks.
What else should we know about your company?
My company is small fashion company. I started it almost two years ago, and it works on building of my brand. I do fashion design, I do creative consultations with clients, styling for any occasions, and selling my design clothes. All pieces are unique and I usually don’t make more then one order. My idea is to keep authenticity and uniqueness of each person, as we truly are.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m always looking forward for next chances and for some new things and ideas. It is coming very spontaneously, and I’m just following all signs and work hard on it. That is right now, and that’s future.
