Meet Marcin Bieniek of Tennis Island

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcin Bieniek.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Marcin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my company because I knew how important education is. I had a lot of ideas which helped many players so I decided to share these ideas with the world. I started with almost no budget so I had a lot of work to do. I created hundreds of tennis video drills to show players, coaches, and parents how they can improve their practice sessions. Step by step I was getting more and more subscribers so it was an important confirmation that tennis world wants to see more of my stuff. Gradually I was adding different learning possibilities for my website’s visitors. Through my first years of the company, me and my wife were doing everything by ourselves so it was a really busy time for us. But it was worthy. Today we have a solid company which consists of over 1800 learning materials like tennis drills, instructional videos, nutritional recipes, technical analysis. I am also proud of my introduction of VIRTUAL COACH – first tennis online coaching possibility on the market. In this service, players can contact me and we can work together on a daily basis from any place in the world.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not. As with any business, there were some tough times. I had to deal with financial difficulties so my pathway was much longer than it could be expected. Because of lack of money I had to build and manage my website, record materials using own equipment, pay for courts etc. Additionally, because I am a professional tennis coach I was spending a lot of time at work so it was normal for me to get up early, go to local courts with my wife, record videos for 2 hours and then go to work and spend several hours while teaching players. Money would definitely help to start business effectively but with my experience, I learned a lot of lessons which help me today. Another obstacle was to convince people around the world to pay for educational materials. I am aware that there is a lot of stuff available for free on the internet but I strongly believe that my ideas are just different. I really care about players and I am thankful for the opportunity to help people both locally and globally. I think that my strong values make me a little bit different in comparison with other coaches so that is why I don’t lose motivation, try to improve every day and create new materials for people who want to grow as well as I do. My methods are proven and the best confirmation is my daily work: I currently work with top junior in the world and together we achieved top 200 world ranking in less than 6 months of work.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Tennis Island – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Tennis Island has one purpose: to help players around the world improve their game. I dedicate my work to players, coaches, and parents at all levels of performance. I don’t believe that coaches should work harder and care more only if they play with great players or rich ones. For me, a player is a player so I approach each lesson in the same way. I couldn’t go to bed and sleep normally if I didn’t give my best effort on the court. That is why I think I was able to go through the process and maintain my company for many years. My website provides materials for anyone who wants to improve. There are video drills and lessons for beginners, professionals, parents who want to teach their kids as well as coaches who want to expand own knowledge. My website is just for everyone. The only limiting factor is visitor’s motivation. If they want to improve I can guarantee that they find all important information on Tennis Island. I think that my biggest achievement of Tennis Island was to provide an opportunity to people around the world to improve on a daily basis at minimal costs. Access to my website costs less than 1 private lesson so it is a factor that makes my work available to anyone in the world. As a former player, I know how the lack of money can stop someone’s development so Tennis Island is definitely more than just a business – it is a mission to help tennis. Tennis Island offers complete development based on technical, tactical, physical, mental and nutritional aspects. Players don’t improve only on the court so if they know what they can do at home to get their game to the next level they will achieve own potential at much faster pace.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I want to grow as a person and as a company so I try to improve every year. I believe 2017 will be even better than the previous one. Definitely, I want to reach more audience around the world to make sure that everyone who wants to improve has a chance to do that. As I am interviewed right now I am almost done with my premiere tennis course online (called “Professional match preparation”). This course consists of several hours of video that guide players on how to approach tennis tournament in the way top players do. This course shows details related to healthy eating, proper hydration, recovery techniques, effective mindset, goal setting and many more that have an impact on player’s performance. I am planning to launch this course at the beginning of the year so I can’t wait to get feedback from people who will use it. Definitely, I want to keep working hard, consistently update my database of materials and incorporate some new features to allow even more possibilities to grow. If you are interested in them make sure you follow Tennis Island Facebook page where we post all notifications about coming products/services. At the end of 2016, I also started my personal tennis blog (http://enjoytennisblog.wordpress.com) so I want to also focus on this project a little bit more to make it as an additional source of valuable information for my friends.
