Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Gibson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After spending a decade after college in the business world, with my business degree, I did some soul searching, and realized my true calling was photography, and specifically, architectural and real estate photography, as I had always loved those fields, even as a child.
So, I went back to school, and got a degree in photography, and have been working as a photographer in the decade since then,
Has it been a smooth road?
In the decade since graduating from my photography degree, I’ve certainly had to pay my dues, and work as an assistant to some big photographers, from whom I learned a lot. I’ve had to work for other photography companies initially, but eventually I was able to make the jump to only working for my own clients through my own company. It took a lot of perseverance and hard work to gain those clients, and continue building my clientele.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Luke Gibson Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
Luke Gibson Photography specializes in architectural and real estate photography. In addition to homes, I photograph commercial real estate, retail, the hospitality industry, and public buildings.
I’m most proud of recently being hired to photograph 3 architectural homes in the Trousdale Estates neighborhood of Beverly Hills by author Steven Price, for his coffee table book, “Trousdale Estates: Midcentury to Modern in Beverly Hills”, which is in bookstores now.
What role has luck (good luck or bad luck) played in your life and business?
I don’t believe it’s been good luck, but rather alot of hard work, paying my dues, learning a lot by assisting other big photographers, and much perseverance.
