Meet Lucy Van Der Riet

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lucy Van Der Riet. Lucy was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Coco Dee.

Lucy , can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve had a vast and varied career. I worked in corporate marketing for a decade. I so clearly recall sitting in stuffy meetings baffled at the enthusiasm of others and knew intuitively this path was not for me. But didn’t really know what else was possible.

After I had my second child, I became a partner in a boutique marketing agency working with mostly start-ups, and I loved the energy of working with humans starting a business. What an honour. The passion is incomparable.

Then I had a third child and as a typical Manifesting Generator, with this new season came new excitement to pursue in Business. I started health coaching which then led to me studying Human Design. Over the last few years this has become the heart of my business. Creating experiences for women to understand the unique way they are designed to operate and make decisions. To more than embrace individuality but to lead with it. Lead life and business, with a language to describe their unique superpowers.

Understanding my own strengths through the lens of Human Design has also led to me creating a lifestyle product which is still secret squirrel but launching later this year. This is the translation of individuality through a completely different avenue.

Please tell us more about your brand, State of You
My core business, Lucy van der Riet, exists to create greater self-acceptance through having a solid understanding of how we are here to thrive. I use Human Design as a springboard for personal insight in life and in business. What I’m most proud of is the authentic way I do this. Sure, there are many Human Designer readers who can read your chart from a technical perspective, but what I’m obsessed with is showing you what this actually means for your life and your business. To help you integrate the knowing, to build trust in your innate superpowers by having the language to articulate these strengths and then allowing yourself to lead with them, despite what logic may be telling you. I do this through pulling themes and patterns. It’s a very unique and fresh way of shining a light on your brilliance. The other thing I’m so proud of is the intimacy created in the experiences / containers I have with clients. If it’s a reading, an immersion, mentoring etc. my priority is to create safe and empowering spaces that relies on honesty and kindness. And with the new brand (Vandy), that I’m launching, I’m proud of trusting in the following of breadcrumbs. To be patient and trusting in the unfolding of an idea so it can fully bloom. This brand is playful and adventurous, while still having the through-line of individuality. Being able to explore all the different parts of yourself through business is the greatest joy.

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Coco Dee – Women’s Wealth Advocate & Consultant and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Coco Dee – Women’s Wealth Advocate & Consultant.
I met Coco in a business Mastermind and was instantly fascinated by the way her mind works. Over the next 18 months I watched Coco consistently showing up for her business, for her community and for women to educate on financial literacy.

I attended a few of her masterclasses and it became apparently clear to me:
1) That possibility to create wealth exists everywhere
2) That you must have a plan
3) You have to be honest with yourself.

My husband and I worked closely with Coco for three months. In this time we explored so much. Our initial work on beliefs was illuminating. Being able to see how different both my husband and my beliefs were, and how this was impacting our decisions and therefore our reality. This type of work is confronting because you have to look at a myriad of things that are easier to ignore and also immensely rewarding.

What stood out over our time together is not only how much experience and knowledge Coco has but also the incredible connections she has. As part of our plan together we had to explore so much and the two things that will forever be etched in our minds is to take emotion out of decisions and to be patient in the process.

Her ability to work to the individual is what makes her work so potent.

What I loved so much about working with Coco was she pivoted with us. She would listen, really listen and present options and we would explore and then discern and then pivot. Where we landed after three months was where we needed to.

One of the best outcomes for me and our family was an increase in financial literacy and the importance of this so I can in turn pass this onto my children and in particular daughters.
I would recommend working with Coc
