Meet Lori Halprin of Envision Fine Furnishing in Downtown LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Halprin.

Lori, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my business when I was eighteen years old and in college. Initially, I wanted to earn my degree and then attend law school. While working in my showroom, I began to really love what I was doing and developed a passion for design, furniture and lighting.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I am very fortunate to have a successful business. My clients are professional athletes, celebrities, and high profile business professionals. I have built long lasting relationships with my clients which often turn into repeat business. As my business expanded, I was able to hire more employees and I opened up my lighting showroom (Architectural Lighting and Design). I had some small obstacles along the way. One was when I opened up my lighting showroom. I had very little knowledge in the world of lighting. I had to build a new showroom from ground up and educate myself on lighting and lighting design along the way.

Please tell us about Envision Fine Furnishing.
My showroom is located in the LA Mart in downtown Los Angeles. My business has a few different components to it. First is our main showroom, where you can purchase items off the floor or order from our vendors. I also have a lighting showroom, Architectural Lighting and Design, which is one of the largest lighting showrooms in Southern California. We also have a “Sample Sale” showroom with unique and one of a kind pieces that are priced for every budget!! The last area of my business is where I can really let my creativity and expertise shine. My husband Bruce, my son Chris and I also build high end houses from the ground up and then stage them. I have my own team that has been with me for several years, which assures there are no errors in the install process. Our installs are not just in California. We work worldwide! I recently secured a new project in the Bahamas! Once the houses are complete, I fill the home with everything from towels and bed linens to kitchen appliances! All of the homes we have built and staged all sold within a week!! What makes us stand out above the competition is our ability to complete projects in a very short time frame. We have established relationships with local manufacturers. This allow us to design custom high end furniture in a short time. My projects are completed in thirty days and my clients receive instant gratification. I am very proud of the fact that I still run a family business that began with myself and my mother and now my son and husband are a part of it. I am also very fortunate to have loyal employees. Some have been with me for over fifteen years.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, nothing. I love what I do and would not change a thing. Everything I have encountered in my career has been a learning experience and has helped me grow personally and professionally.
