Meet Lela Luster

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lela Luster.

Hi Lela, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in LA (‘Valley Gurl’ here) and I’m an Actor and model. I always knew I wanted to pursue acting, it’s my passion and also, I’m happiest when I’m doing it. I started like most people, performing in school (or in front of mirrors, or my parent’s large camcorder)… well, actually, I still perform in front of mirrors… or my phone ‘camcorder.’ It’s great practice! During this now almost two years into this new world we’re all living through, I believe I’ve honed my skills more than I have before. I’ve spoken to a lot of other artists – performing or otherwise who have said the same. It’s an interesting, ‘silver lining,’ if you will.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh my god, not at all! Success, which is many different things to many different people is NOT linear. I constantly have to remind myself to keep going. I’m also very lucky to have a mother who pushes me to keep going. My family is quite supportive of my dreams/career aspirations. It’s so easy to doubt yourself and sometimes, you’ve got to take some self-care time out and tap back in to yourself.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Well, as we all know, social media is leading not just my industry but most every other industry. I expect to see a lot more projects produced by these social media giants. That’s already started and I think as time goes on, it’ll be in the vein of what Netflix and Hulu does, self-produced, full-scale projects. Which I think is great, I’ve noticed that a lot of individuals, from ‘A-listers,’ to ‘unknowns,’ are creating and performing in several different types of projects, maybe projects that wouldn’t have been possible, or offered to them specifically, even five years ago.
