Meet LeilaRose Valencia

Today we’d like to introduce you to LeilaRose Valencia.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Going through adolescence during this time and age is an extreme challenge for your ego. There is so much that bombards teens with fitting in, social media and relationships. As a freshman in high school, I was going through it. I already been through relationship issues, girl hate, jealousy, cyber bulling and so much more but I refused to let my struggles bring me down. With faith and support from my parents, I decided to focus on making my goals become reality. I got my Certification as a MUA at the age of 14 and continued to grow in the industry as a young entrepreneur with my own freelance business. During this time my modeling also began to bloom through networking in the industry. I was exposed to many new ideas, people and lifestyles at a young age. This experience was so exciting for me because I saw so many opportunities and possibilities for a positive future. I have been fortunate to work with homegrown brands all the way up to high-end brands. I am still growing and I have learned to enjoy every moment of my progress. I have taken my Losses and turned them into Lessons. These experiences made me want to push harder and I became addicted to making myself a better person each day.

Through my experiences I learned how to love and be true to myself through God’s strength. I am stay focused and true to myself. My personality is fun and straight forward. I don’t like to waste time. I am always working on myself, my goals, my future. Regardless of where I end up in my career, I can never forget this adventurous journey. I learn new things every single day through my assignments and people I meet. I hope my presence is strong enough to share some light on them as well.

Please tell us about your art.
It’s not only about the makeup or looks I put on a client or myself that I want to impact. I would like the whole experience of feeling beautiful and having confidence in your own skin with your own unique features be the message that females see through my art. I want them to feel the fierce vibes I bring. I like to go hard and not try to blend in with the norm but instead to express myself and my style as a savage without fear of being judged. Whatever clothes, make-up or look that my client or myself is portraying should be owned by in full character from the inside out.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
I have been fortunate to work closely with celebrities on projects and well-known brands but that doesn’t make me successful. Having ‘CLOUT’ isn’t everything. You have to be well balenced and happy with what you bring to the table as a family member, community member and what roles you play. What does make me successful is my happy heart that glows with knowing that I have overcome so many obstacles and becoming a positive woman that can represent her community. I have been through people trying to discourage my dreams and try to tear my visions down. Not only is it super competitive to be a model and also a make-up artist these days but your own “friends” and family are not always going to support or believe in you. You have to be committed and consistent with your goals no matter what it is. I have been very fortunate to have some amazing people and companies believe in me. First off Sand @sandoner, a well-known artist that make beautiful lashy dolls has supported me from day one. She took a girl from East L.A. like herself and gave me an opportunity to model for her brand. This lead to many other opportunities like modeling for other L.A. brands such as YoursTruly, Top League, Havok, Miss Lola, Yekim, Hasta Muerte and many more brands. Simply Glam Makeup Studio gave me a chance to obtain my Certificate in make-up Artistry where I was taught under @lupe_mua. This led to later becoming the youngest employee to work for Kim Kardashian for KKW Beauty. I also work closely local makeup companies like Frankie Rose Cosmetics and Prolux Cosmetics. I enjoy using my social media as a fashion and beauty influencer as well. I want to be known as successful for being able to share my story in hopes of encouraging young females who think they can’t get out of a difficult situation and turn it into fuel to light their fire.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Thank you, clients and employers, for believing in my brand and what I stand for. My brand is not a ‘cookie cutter’ look but yet my authentic true self. Thank you, haters, for being my motivators. Thank you all who gave a young lady a chance when the world is saying no…and stay low. Especially my day ones from all the collabs to my paid assignments. Thank you to my special photographers that I have chosen to work with because you have helped me shine especially @ezequiel_don1 and @nate_zeilke. But truly we have to give back the support we have received to keep our cycle prosperous for ourselves and others. I enjoyed doing this interview because I believe in the philosophy that L.A. voyage is sharing. Get love…Give love. That’s how I got myself to where I am at and where I am going.
