Meet Lauren “Lolo” Spencer of Sitting Pretty Productions in The Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren “Lolo” Spencer.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a disability lifestyle influencer, actress, model, public speaker, and content creator with a YouTube channel titled “Sitting Pretty.” “Sitting Pretty” is a series I created to showcase my life as a woman in a wheelchair. My vlogs showcase a range of topics from disability fashion tutorials, everyday challenges dealing with society, dating, and my new diagnosis journey.

I star as Tracy Holmes in the critically acclaimed film Give Me Liberty. The film premiered both at Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals. My performance was listed as one of the top performances of Sundance Film Festival 2019 by RogerEbert.com. I have been featured in popular media outlets like CNN, The New Yorker, AOL, HuffPost, Buzzfeed and more. I’ve modeled in campaigns for TommyxZendaya Adaptive, Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive, Zappos Adaptive and Secnnture by Jordyn Woods. I’ve been a panelist at the YouTube Accessibility Summit, Los Angeles Abilities Expo, and VidCon, the nation’s largest YouTube conference.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Every story has it’s challenge because life is all about meeting each challenge, figuring out how to resolve it, and celebrating each win along the way and learning from the whole process. The biggest challenge for me was simply surviving in LA independently and chasing a dream. I’m originally from Stockton, CA which is about a 4-6 hour drive (depending on how fast you’re going up I-5 lol.) and my base is there so living in LA alone and with a disability was very challenging. Finding work to pay bills knowing you’re not being hired because of your disability, having limited job options because you have a disability, yet you have million dollar level dreams is tough!

Please tell us about Sitting Pretty Productions.
Sitting Pretty Productions is in its extreme infancy stage. Lol. I’m focusing more building my brand as an influencer while still building Sitting Pretty as more than just a YouTube channel. Stay tuned. 🙂

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Omg, literally every single person in my family and close friends group. Waaaaaaay too many people to name.
