Meet Lauren Elizabeth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Elizabeth.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
As long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be an artist. I’ve been painting my entire life and have always been an over-the-top animal lover. I started mixing my love of animals and art and began commissioning pet portraits and really found my calling in art. In 2013, I was living in Atlanta, working in marketing and building websites and creating logos for companies. I used my marketing skills to create my own website and really market myself as an artist.

My business really took off when I launched my website and fully immersed myself in painting, giving it absolutely everything I’ve got. I was able to quit my marketing job and paint full time. Then Chewy.com discovered my website, I became their company artist to their customers, and I have painted over 4,000 pet portraits for them in the past 4 years.

In 2016, I moved across the country to LA, where I felt I could flourish artistically. I absolutely love living in Playa Del Rey, such an animal-loving city, and for me–the beach is where I belong!

It is the best feeling in the world to get to do what you love every day. I have enjoyed every painting and every minute of it! The feeling I get when a client sees their painting for the first time is just indescribable. I feel so honored to be able to capture their best friend’s personality on canvas for them to cherish for a lifetime. It means the world to me. Thank you for your support and encouragement throughout my journey. I can’t wait to see where life takes me next!

Please tell us about your art.
I specialize in pet portraits. My clients email me their favorite photos of their pets and I focus on really capturing their pets’ spirit in the painting. I use acrylics on canvas.

Being the animal lover that I am, I totally understand the bond you create with your pet. They become part of your family! They give you absolute, unconditional love. My goal is to capture that love on canvas, a true work of art you can cherish for a lifetime.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
To stay focused on creating works of art that you have a passion for. Find what makes you tick. And put every ounce of passion and determination into your work. As an artist, you will face financial challenges… but if you stay focused and strong, work hard, those struggles will pay off!
