Meet Dr. Lamees Khorshid of Health, Happiness and Peak Performance Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Lamees Khorshid.

Dr. Khorshid, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born to immigrant parents who moved from Lebanon to the United States to provide their five children with education and opportunity. At a young age, our family collectively decided to grow in roots of humanitarian work. I became a psychologist with a strong desire to help others to live a fulfilling life and to achieve personal and professional best. Soon after I received my doctoral degree, my parents’ lives were cut short, and when they both passed on, I decided to become extremely knowledgeable in the areas of happiness and peak performance. I did this to help others to maximize their time on earth. I began to teach people how to achieve the most out of their lives, while feeling fulfilled, happy, and at the top of their performance. For years now, I have spent my life teaching these skills in practicing happiness, presence, and peak performance to maximize time, and quality of life, on this planet. I do this through individual coaching, speaking events across the national and the globe, and corporate functions. I split my time between creating health and happiness programs at one of the largest VA systems in the country in Los Angeles, and a Private speaking and coaching practice around the world.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This road has had its ups and downs. In female entrepreneurship, I have learned it takes tenacity and risk taking. I started by becoming extremely knowledgeable in my field, and reading all I could in small steps every day. I treated my learning times as any other priority in my life. I learned to get comfortable with uncertainty, and to not take “no” personally. I learned business is all about relationship, and if I focused on serving others, and acting in integrity and purpose, I would continue to thrive. I also learned to focus on the small steps and next to get caught up in the details or the minor let downs. In other words, it took small steps, formed with mission and purpose, and resilience for the hard times. Faith that this was my calling, helped me through tough days. I was not out to prove anything to anyone, because I was more focused on serving others and reaching as many people as possible. I felt energy in this sense of purpose. I saw problems as opportunities for growth, and I challenged myself each week to go one step further. All of this came with many sacrifices but my self-care routine of good diet, exercise, good sleep, and support got me through the tough days.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in public speaking events and coaching in peak performance, happiness and health. I do this across the globe, and I am known for teaching others in how to obtain vitality, top performance skills, resiliency, and relationship health. Many people in the field of psychology talk about what is going wrong with the individual. I instead provide talks, workshops and personal coaching in how to discover and maximize personal strengths. I teach easy to use techniques to become happy, healthy, and resilient in all aspects of life.

Many people go through life living with worries in their head, racing thoughts, low energy, and goals that they don’t believe they can attain. I change people’s lives through providing easy to implement skills and I dispel the myths that keep them stuck by using evidence-based strategies that are fun and simple to use. My attendees of seminars and my coaching clients consistently report that their lives are changed through my seminars and they begin a journey in success to reach levels they didn’t even believe they could attain.

What were you like growing up?
I was a curious child growing up, and I always wanted to understand why people did the things they did. I also had a humanitarian heart, and was always looking to help and guide others from a young age. My interests were in thinking and in creativity. I loved the arts, and I was eager to learn, so I divided my time between learning, dance, art, and photography.

My father would line our house with bookshelves while encouraging us to read as much as possible, as he believed knowledge would open the doors to heart, to others, and to fulfill our sense of purpose. I also came from very humble and low SES roots, but that never stopped my parents from making me feel wealthy with love and knowledge and the support of our family unit and the community. All my parents’ children grew to be successful because of the understanding that knowledge and heart, with a purpose to serve, would provide success.
