Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Doyle.
Kimberly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been a creative person and I enjoy partaking in various art forms as a creative outlet. But it wasn’t until college when I took a beginning jewelry class that I found my passion, designing and making jewelry. I jumped into the industry and fully immersed myself with everything jewelry related. I worked for some prominent names and absorbed everything I could. However, the most important thing I learned, that hadn’t quite crossed my mind was how much emotion went into buying a piece of jewelry and how meaningful it can be to its wearer. From a young girl receiving jewelry from a parent to that same girl buying her very first empowering piece after landing her dream job to then passing down those jewels to the next generation and everything in-between. I really can’t describe how much joy it bring me to be able to be a part of that, so I decided to dedicate my life to it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As a small business owner, challenges are always present. They are always new ones that come up and it can be particularly difficult since it’s usually just 1-2 people trying to make all of it happen. One of the biggest challenges when I was starting out was being able to physically create everything I had in my mind. There were so many trials and errors, so many tears, and literally bloodshed from trying to achieve what I wanted. But I poured my soul into my craft, and with a little encouragement from my family and friends, just kept dusting off my shoulders and trying again until I got what I wanted. Even though that sometimes meant I needed to reimagine designs. But it’s like that saying if it doesn’t break you, it will make you stronger and I cannot agree more. I’m forever learning and growing.
Kimberly Doyle Jewelry – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company is a female-owned small business that focuses on the craftsmanship, artistry, and design of jewelry. I take great pride in offering a selection of intriguing gemstones that I handpicked because of their awe-inspiring nature. I take great pride in providing sustainable materials. The majority of the line is crafted in various karats of gold that has been certified as recycled metals. We are committed to using environmentally sustainable materials and practices whenever possible. My philosophy is simple, I relish in the idea of ancient adornment and believe every person who desires to, should have the ability to adorn themselves. So I created a line of quality attainable jewelry. We craft pieces of jewelry that are meant to be passed down for generations to come. No fast fashion, just a collection of timeless and contemporary treasures to accompany you and your journey.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I didn’t have a definition for success until I made my first natural sale from a client who didn’t know me personally and who wasn’t referred to me by someone I know. The idea that something I created could be part of someone’s life and adorn their body was the greatest validation. To me, it meant that I was being seen and my craft was not only being appreciated but coveted. It meant and still does mean, anything is possible.
