Meet Kim Nguyen of Kaden and Mimi in Santa Monica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Nguyen.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Ever since high school where I planned functions, proms, and other big events it has been something that has followed me throughout my entire life. Whether it was corporate or personal, I’ve always loved to plan all sorts of events, trips and parties. It comes naturally to me and I absolutely love to step back and see everyone having a good time. I like process and order and I think that it has helped me plan very memorable and fun events for both work and in my personal life. People were always telling me that I should do this for my career so after my daughter was born, it was finally time for me to slip out of the digital advertising world that I had been in for 14 years and start Kaden and Mimi.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been the smoothest mostly because of the internal battle of leaving an industry I’ve worked so hard in and wondering if I should be still be doing that. I know in my heart that this is what I want to do for me and my family, but the unknown and newness can be scary. Building a reputation is slower than I’m used to working with too. You get used to a certain life and making a certain amount of money, so change can be tough. I’m excited for it though!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kaden and Mimi – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Kaden and Mimi is a corporate and personal event planning and gifting company. We’re known for being very personable and being able to work with any budget.

As a company we are most proud of being a local company. We are also working on charitable events so that we can give back to the community.

I think what sets us apart is that we’re small, but nimble and resourceful. We want to build lifelong relationships with our clients!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’m from Boston, but have been here for 12 years. I love to travel so what I absolutely love is that all of the little neighborhoods have their own personality and can often feel like a different city. But at the same time you can feel like a true community within your own neighborhood. The food, diversity and endless things to do are amazing!

The traffic is what I like the least, ha!
