Meet Kid Abstrakt of Raw Rhythm Music in South Bay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kid Abstrakt.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kid Abstrakt. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up in the 90’s, I was able to experience music in a special way. I was lucky enough to collect cassette tapes & CD’s of my favorite Hip-Hop artist. Discovering groups like A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde & Wu-Tang Clan. These groups helped me fall in love with Hip-Hop and become a fan forever. Fast forward to 2020 and now our music label creates sounds that are reminiscent of the golden era hip-hop that we grew up around. We went from battle raps in high school to sharing stages with some of our favorite emcees.

Has it been a smooth road?
From the beginning, we had so many opportunities come knocking at our door and people singing praises. Our music group was fresh out of high school and we had no idea what direction we wanted to go towards. It’s a difficult time in your young adult life where you begin to take on more responsibilities while trying to figure yourself out. We had so much passion for hip-hop music but at the end of the day, we were fans first and we created for the love of the art. We missed out on some great opportunities that we wish we took advantage of but we know that everything happens for a reason. We’ve learned from our experiences and feel great about where we are today.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Raw Rhythm Music is an independent Hip-Hop label that distributes music for Revolutionary Rhythm, Kid Abstrakt, Predominance, DJ Million Faces and DJ KA. We are slowly expanding the label to be able to offer services to other musicians that need help with digital marketing, branding and distribution. We are also partnering with MVMNT Artistry to offer screen printing, photography, and web development services. We remain true to our roots and continue to offer high-quality services.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The digital world is taking over our industry and we are being forced to adapt. Live shows may never be what they used to be but we can only hope that we restore a good balance. We have to find new ways to reach our audience in a market that is over saturated. Staying focused on what really matters to us and our supporters is the goal.
