Meet Kelly Lam of The Whole Purpose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Lam.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After working in commercial real estate for almost ten years, I started to lose myself and notice that not only had I adopted unhealthy eating habits but overall, I was not living a healthy life. When I decided to start to take my life back and focus on my health, both physical and mental, things began to change. I could see my fellow peers were in similar situations and there was no work-life balance. During this time, I continued to work, went back to school and did several trainings to learn more about physical and mental well-being. While back at CSUF, I began a business plan, and a little under a year later, The Whole Purpose was birthed. I left my current job, found funding and began my career in the wellness industry. It was almost eight years ago we launched at our first corporate office, Vizio, as their official corporate wellness partner and have been running ever since! We currently create customized wellness programs for corporations nationwide with the goal to help employees live happy and healthy lives in and out of the workplace. In 2017, we launched a community wellness events division and to date have now hosted 21 events supporting the education of living well and will continue this year launching our 2020 events in April.

Has it been a smooth road?
A smooth road… is there such a thing? When we first launched TWP, pitching corporate wellness to corporations that had never had or thought of having wellness budgets was not an easy task. To say that I was a pink elephant in the room was an understatement. But I believe in wellness programs for employees, and I stayed strong to my belief system and I pursued! Now, we are in a time that practically all companies have wellness budgets and insurance companies offer money to corporations to create or enhance their budgets, so our pitch is much easier.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Whole Purpose – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
The Whole Purpose builds customized, high-impact and integrative programs for individuals and corporations that provide a comprehensive approach to Mindful Wellness through a balanced lifestyle based on nutrition, physical well-being and purposeful communication. In addition to hosting a variety of events centered on Mindful Wellness, TWP develops corporate wellness programs for companies of all sizes.

We specialize in all things making people happy and healthy and work hard at creating a safe space for people to learn about wellness and grow a community of like-minded friends. This is what truly makes my heart smile. I love seeing people connect and make friends. We are like a family at TWP, whether it is at our events or in our client’s offices, we create a bond that is strong and lasts! Creating a family-like environment is what I am most proud of and I want to people to comfortable and safe when asking questions about their health and wellness.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity of our city. There are so many different cultures, people, places and wonderful things happening at all times. What I like least….THE TRAFFIC!
