Today we’d like to introduce you to Katelynn Nguyen.
Hi Katelynn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
For over 25 years I called San Jose, CA home. There I grew up in a large family with a strong bond of the sisterhood and where my siblings’ children are like my own. Raised to be a close knit family, it was unbearable to watch my niece Willow suffer from chronic atopic dermatitis, from constant battles with infections to frequent visits to the hospital. At the same time, I was on the road to recovery from a personal injury and car accident that left me without pain management, as I’m highly sensitive to traditional medications. Pain and heartache prompted my interest to immerse myself in research and that’s when I discovered the power of hemp and cannabinoids. I continued my research and started to work side by side with scientists formulating and launching Hemp-CBD products. That’s when my breakthrough came and I knew what I had – a way to apply my passion for helping not only for my dear Willow and myself, but for everyone to naturally heal from within.
Through my own real-life experiences I have established clean body and skin health solutions, designed with the most sensitive bodies in mind, and to empower everyone to achieve wellness without compromise.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“What comes easy won’t last. What lasts won’t come easy.” I don’t think it’s possible that anything your heart truly desires is attained effortlessly; to achieve the success you have to be real with yourself, open to making mistakes, and creative in your use of resources. I started Willow Kay in Honolulu, Hawaii where I lived before the pandemic. As if starting a small business wasn’t frightening in and of itself, the unknown of the lockdown brought feelings of, “It’s now or never.” In such a time of uncertainty and anxiety, what better way to share my passion than to help those in need heal naturally? Being remote on the island, I struggled to carry out what I intended in the midst of the shutdown. I returned to California to work alongside my resources: creative agencies and designers, print shops, and our manufacturer in Portland, OR. With the support of my family and our community who aligns with our mission to help those like Willow and myself, on January 7, 2021, nearly a year later, Willow Kay officially launched.

Willow Kay started with a problem, as life often has in store for us, but nothing about the process has been subject to random circumstances. When faced with adversity, I had the opportunity to educate myself, then I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. Life, personal or professional, isn’t about luck; it’s about knowing yourself, your tools, resources and using those to constantly improve your practice.
