Today we’d like to introduce you to Karim Meg Moutry.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Around 14 years old my life was all about skateboarding. I used to skate pretty much every day ( until now ). I was fascinated by skateboarding videos. So at 16 years old, I worked for a week as a cashier in a grocery store after school, in order to buy my first camera and fisheye lens to be able to do some cool skateboard video with my friends.
I found myself filming more than I was skateboarding. Year after year, I began filming a lot of different things outside of my skateboarding world and thats how I became who I am right today, a self-taught filmmaker who will always try new things.
Please tell us about your art.
Growing up my goal was always to have A realistic storytelling even in my skate videos, nothing has changed, Everything is about storytelling, and every story deserves to be told. My wife and I (Mary Moutry) are directing groundbreaking stories. We are not scared to shock the audience by having our movies as real as life can get. Porn, rape, fighting racism and stereotypes are just a few topics we recently tackled in our reality films. Our goal is for the viewer to get engulfed in the story by escaping the “HOLLYWOOD” way of doing movies. Some films we shot like “COST OF BEAUTY” will have women of all nationalities crying reliving their own personal insecurities with universal beauty standards, “COST OF MORALS” tells the story of sexual taboo in both the black gay community and social taboo in the world of porn, “COST OF FAME” speaks to the youth of the world who are dying to get into the music industry and the dangers that could lie ahead. The best stories are in front of you, and they are happening every day.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
In our days, a lot of people from different communities will get offended pretty easily about your art. I will say today’s challenge as an artist is to create art without putting people against you.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Our work is available on our website, our award-winning short film “COST OF BEAUTY” is available on www.cashoutproduction.com in the original movie section.
April 15, 2019, COST OF MORALS will be released on our website, An independent, auto produce feature film written and co-directed by my wife and I.
All our movies are executive produced by us. We are not asking for any money, but for work. We are a really talented production company, and we can handle, all kinds of projects. Working with us is the best way to support our work!
