Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamshuka.
Kamshuka, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Born to a Ugandan father & Anglo Indian Mother my journey begins in Uganda during a time when the country was in turmoil from the civil war. I share the journey of how my father, brother & I survived. Life has a way of raising you’re vibrations from one circumstance to another. Surviving the war was probably the easy part about the journey but surviving your mind and constantly having to come through from within is the really battle. Childhood years of displacement, rejection, abandonment led to understanding the effects on my mental state and acknowledging ptsd.
My teenage years were filled with many suicidal attempts and I just wanted to disappear. I remember crying after my last attempt realizing I couldn’t move into the fast lane to death. I had to accept and embrace my journey and my story and find healing in the pain. I made the choice to heal others with my story to live on purpose since I couldn’t just give up. I just want to live full if I was still going to be here.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The worst struggles faced are those that accompany insecurities that tag along with living through the lens of people’s expectations. It’s hard enough to be enough and accept that truth for just yourself but when you add the expectations of others you’re living a heartbreaking cycle of self damage. The road has not been smooth, there’s been many road blocks and bumps including the moments in which you feel like you need to fit into a box to be accepted. It’s the death and resurrection of our true self that brings us the enlightenments we deserve.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
While on my book tour for my first book “Becoming Warrior” I encountered groups of women I only met for the first time. Some of these women right here in LA inspired me to live my truth. Have strong women who are strong because of their weaknesses is a bold color I am constantly reminded to embody. I couldn’t be more grateful for my soul sisters in Toronto, Atlanta & LA.
Girl Power Uncensored” is a compilation of women stories… HER Story, HER Truth, NO Lies. The RAW & UNCUT stories of some really brave, strong women from Atlanta, Georgia I am honoured to be amongst!! Compiled by radio personality & CEO of #GirlPowerHour Jae Nash.
{Excerpt from GirlPower Uncensored }
As an adult, It took me down dark paths, I couldn’t control, harmful words I couldn’t stop speaking and painful mental breakdowns that I couldn’t sleep away. I really was that doll left for dead by the abusers of life and love.
Embody and give love like you’ve never been hurt before. Love like you’re losing me and live like you’re dying. That’s how you Win. That’s how you embody love. Today love me a little louder. You’re love will be my light and this is how I become love and light.
