Today we’d like to introduce you to Jove Jupiter.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I started taking piano lessons when I was about 13 years old, and then I began to write and record my own songs when I was about 16. I met some guys at a recording studio in Las Vegas that helped me create my debut 7-track EP titled “SWEAT.” The EP was officially released this past winter in December 2018. Since it’s release, I have collaborated on several music videos with director Xavier Hamel and Producer Sarah Khawand, including my latest music video Materialistic, and I have performed at the legendary Whisky A Go Go in support of the EP.
Please tell us about your art.
I create pop music mostly for myself. I know that sounds a bit narcissistic, but I really do use it as a way to express myself, and I use it as an outlet, both mentally and emotionally. Growing up gay in a small conservative town in Nevada, I felt like I had to hide my true identity to fit in. So once I got out, I promised myself that I would live the rest of my life being the most authentic version of myself. My music is unapologetically gay, and it’s very sex driven. I want listeners to feel empowered by it – especially listeners from the LGBTQIA+ community.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
You can’t make everyone happy so you might as well make sure that you are. Your art will flourish when you stop thinking about peoples expectations and just do whatever feels right and makes you happy. Always trust your gut. And never let anyone say that you can’t.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My music is available on all music streaming services, and all of my videos are on YouTube. People can support me by listening to my music, watching my videos, showing up to concerts or even just by simply following me on my social media.
