Today we’d like to introduce you to Josue Louis.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Josue. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in New York and attended college at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where I ran track and played football. Never truly aspired to be a pro athlete as I found my first love with activity to be Dance. I danced Ballet, Tap, Modern and Hip Hop for eight years before playing sports. Post-graduation in 2012, I decided that I’d take my talents as an athlete and go pro with Track & Field.
Since that decision, I’ve lived in six states and one country (Paris, France) working hard and getting closer to my ultimate goal, becoming an Olympian. More than that, a Haitian Olympian. Traveling to compete and to train with the underlying reason to prove to those who once said I’d never amount as an athlete and to also make my immigrant parents proud, hasn’t been an easy task. I’ve had to adapt to different climates, terrains, people and training personalities. I’ve slept in my car, on buses, lived weeks off of $10-$20. Just to stay in pursuit of my ultimate dream and goal. I would have to say that due to the faith I was brought up in with Christianity, I’ve never lost faith in my sacrifices one day paying off. And I still don’t. Along my journey, I’ve found that having a secure and stable thought process and remaining in a state of elevation and positivity is the key to survival. That creating a deep and embedded relationship with God is my strength and remaining there, I will achieve all things.
Today, I am attending Ministry school at Mosaic College in Hollywood, my purpose in attending is to grow my faith and stand in my purpose of creating a space where those seeking to be understood can be, how? Through understanding that they too have a purpose and when they apply themselves effectively, they will see what it is. And that’s why I’ve created Intent Fitness. An online training program where clients/athletes are able to attain physical goals as well as elevate and heighten their mental capacity to achieve and be all that they desire to be. I do all this while also training for the 2020 Olympics as well as being a Motivational Speaker and Trainer/Coach.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. Along my journey, I’ve struggled with not having work that I could funnel into my career goals. I’ve struggled with not knowing how I’d eat or put gas in my car to keep me warm should I need to stay in it overnight. I’ve struggled with having to put my pride aside to take odd jobs just to pay my rent or have something to send back home to my parents in NY. I’ve struggled with being the only person I know in a city or state and still making things happen. I’ve struggled by making money to move from New York to Philadelphia, Virginia, DC, North Carolina, Paris, Alburquerque, and now Los Angeles all in pursuit of my dream in the last six years.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Intent Fitness – what should we know?
My business is Intent Fitness, online physical fitness and mental fitness program driven by intention. As a professional Decathlete and having been an athlete for the last 15 years, I understand what it takes to have rigor and be an intention to see what I want to achieve become reality. Intent Fitness is created with the purpose of creating a program where someone who hasn’t trained or competed at the level that I have, can to understand and achieve similar goals in their own life.
I am first a Pro Decathlete and secondly a personal trainer/coach. I could also argue that I am first a child of God, ha but let’s not get into semantics. I specialize in creating personal based fitness and mental training programs. I’m known for creating purposeful and intentional programs where clients/athletes don’t feel like a number, but a valuable asset to not just the company, more importantly, themselves.
I am most proud of my company because it gives the client/athlete the ability to be intentional with everything that they do. My program/company creates a personal relationship with the client and athlete where they are able to not just see physical changes, yet mental changes in how they think and as well achieve their goals.
Intent Fitness is driven by the heart and grounded by the mind. It’s not just an exercise program, it’s a program that brings out the God in you and the person that you were purposefully created to be.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Perseverance, Loyalty, Shifting, Surrender, FAITH, Spiritually in Tune, Open Minded, Rigor and Discipline.
