Meet Josh Reidt of Reidt Fitness Systems in Costa Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Reidt.

Josh, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was a former college pitcher who likes most pitchers suffered an arm injury requiring surgery. After surgery, I wondered what I could have done different to have avoided it, so I started asking my physical therapist and surgeon questions about rehab and preventative measures to avoid issues in the future. Once I came back and started pitching again my arm wasn’t the same and I had my scholarship taken.

That helpless feeling of having something taken from me is exactly why I do what I do. I’ve always wondered what I could have done different from a strength/conditioning standpoint or from a throwing perspective to have better prepared my body for the demands of pitching.

After my career ended, I started coaching high school baseball and training my players. A few years later, I decided that the coaching side wasn’t for me and I started training full-time. I was fortunate to study under some amazing mentors whom without their guidance, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today.

Looking back the training I did was very archaic and not baseball specific compared to what is offered in today’s training market. I want my athletes to know that I’m here to help educate, guide and protect their bodies and careers.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing worth any value ever comes without some struggles. Seven years ago, I opened a small facility with a partner and within the first year, I decided to leave due to differences on how the business should be ran. Dealing with those issue allowed me to mature and a business owner and gave me perspective on how I want to run things on my own as I currently do.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Reidt Fitness Systems – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am the owner of Reidt Fitness Systems located in Costa Mesa. The gym specializes in baseball specific strength/conditioning for all ages with an emphasis on high school, college and professional players. Over the past 14 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to train over 400+ collegiate athletes, 100+ professional players, 10+ 1st rounders, 20+ USA players and recently 3 Olympians!!!

I’m known for developing some of the best high school players in the country. I help maximize an athlete’s strengths and minimize his/her weaknesses all while keeping the athlete healthy.

I’m most proud of the fact that not only can I help get athletes to college and beyond but that when they are done playing we continue to have the same relationship. Having a life long relationship and watching an athlete mature in front of you to become a husband, father or whatever his path is and to be a part of that is truly rewarding.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I just opened a new facility Oct 26 in Costa Mesa!!! 7,000 sq ft of training space with an in facility physical therapist and looking to add a massage therapist and a batting cage as well to accommodate any needs a baseball player may have.
