Meet Joseph J. Zoppi of Templar Real Estate Enterprises

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph J. Zoppi.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Joseph. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was in corporate America in New York City, I had some very challenging and exciting jobs. It was fast-paced, flexible and I enjoyed it, but it was never totally rewarding and I never felt fulfilled. Because of this, I knew I had to start my own venture and I thought real estate would be a great business. While I was working my full-time job, I started my new venture on the side. I would be working every night and weekend, and I was totally consumed by it. My company grew quickly to my amazement. Before I knew it, my side company  kept doubling in size and I left corporate America. Since that time, my company has continued to expand and grow in profitability. I have a great set of clients and investors, and purchase nationally for all our apartment investments. When we purchase houses for cash, we focus on a regional level but will be expanding over the coming year on a national scale as well.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In life nothing is smooth, and that is a good thing. It is the adversities and challenges that make us grow and appreciate the fruits it produces. When growing a fast-paced company, there are constant struggles. The biggest challenge is to ensure we grow responsibly. Our business is very capital intensive and because of this, we need to always understand the inflows and outflows of money. We do not want to jeopardize the company with limited cash reserves, which will impact our ability to pay our bills- especially our staff’s salary and the obligations to our private investors. There is a great responsibility to ensure all our staff and private investors are always taken care of, and they have confidence in the company and our leadership.

Please tell us about Templar Real Estate Enterprises.
I am very proud of my company and the staff that support and represent our clients. Templar is best at looking at every client situation uniquely with a goal to exceed their expectations and needs, whether it is buying their house quickly for cash or investing our private investors’ money in the appropriate asset for a consistent rate of return. I feel we excel compared to the competition because we are a company that is people centric. Our emphasis is on people: our staff, our vendors, our clients, it is the people that matter. If you take care of the people everything else is easy- even being profitable.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Success for me is in two parts. The first is to provide thorough example and guidance that my children will be a better person than I am. The second is to ensure my company is successful in providing a legacy for my children, as well as continually providing for those in most need through our Giving Hands Program. This program provides 10% of all our net profits to different organizations and people that need assistance. We are very proud of this.
