Meet Joseph Mendoza of JosephWanders in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Mendoza.

Joseph, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
How it all started? Honestly to this day, I don’t even know I would go out and take photos of flowers I remember I would shoot cactus in black and white because the contrast on it looks so interesting to me. I was drawn to it and now that I look back I haven’t taken a photo of a cactus in over four years haha, but it all started when around 2014 or so I would spend a lot of time wandering and with my love to get outdoors and photography mixing together it all kinda fell into place.

I love to camp I love road trips I love the smell of the woods and ocean breeze against my face I feel so at home with I’m outdoors it’s ridiculous. I don’t see myself as a great landscape photographer or travel blogger but I love to share my journey and I love meeting people along the way.

Landscape was always a pleasure of mine till this day its all love and passion and I feel my journey is just beginning. I’ll pull over on a road trip as many times as I can to shoot something I see that catches my eye. I’ve traveled through the united states a few times but I plan o documenting a full trip throughout all national parks from corner to corner I’m not sure when ill begin but that’s a goal and it definitely keeps me motivated.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Its never really a smooth road I guess it depends on your mindset on the obstacles you go through between vehicles breaking down in the middle on the mountain and having to sleep on side of the road in 30 degree weather or getting lost in the woods or evacuated from a nation park because storms are so heavy and unsafe. Recently we camped out in the desert and had to fight through 28 mph winds throughout the night my friend’s tent ended up snapping and he had to make a run for the car in the middle of the night. My favorite time was in Wyoming I ended up getting snowed in on top of this mountain for a few days I didn’t have anyone besides the others who were stuck as well and we all came together shared food or whatever we needed it was beautiful. Its been a wild journey and its far from over but I love every second of it.

Please tell us about JosephWanders.
“JosephWanders” I wouldn’t really consider it a company its more so a love, I guess you can say a Blog/Vlog of my adventures. I don’t specialize in one specific area I guess you can say camp/travel? Lol I do plan on hopefully working alongside some great companies for product shots and reviews etc.. as I mentioned earlier I plan on getting out there and want to share my experiences with my fan base. I tend to do everything myself from photo to video all the editing and more. I do plan on working on a personal project for people on the go but I can’t release anything about that just yet.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Glamis or Buttercup which are sand dunes in southern California I use to go dirt bike riding and camping out there with my cousin and it was honestly the highlight of my life it really opened me up I realized there’s more out there then the streets you grow up on I didn’t fall into the trap of having to be a stuck in my city it was a beginning something I always wanted to do as a kid was escape I just wanted to get away and being out there was the best or trips to the lake or big bear. I try to pass those experiences on with my nephews and nieces.
