Meet Joseph Delgado of DJ Rival Mobile DJ services in Anaheim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Delgado.

Joseph, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always been passionate about music coming from a family of musicians it was only natural I developed a love and appreciation for music at an early age. I started producing music at an early age as well and dabbled in DJING as a hobby for years but I always longed to take my love and passion for it and turn it into something I could do as a career.

I started my DJ business five years ago with minimal equipment and experience and went to work. For the little experience I had I made up for it with passion and knowledge of music and dedication to my client’s needs and details. Fast forward five years, I have quickly risen to one of the top DJs in my area and a premier wedding DJ as well as performing at many other events large and small

Has it been a smooth road?
I would say it was definitely hard in the beginning just because of all the things I needed to learn it wasn’t just about the mixing music and speaking on the microphone that came naturally it was learning all of the business sides of it promotion marketing client relations just a whole different aspect to it and once things started going smooth.

I definitely had a Health speedbump in 2016, I went to the emergency room with what I thought it was indigestion. Turned out being a severe heart issue I ended up having quadruple bypass surgery on the road to recover mentally and physically. Definitely took its toll but I definitely had family and friends to help me persevere through it and I even had one of my best friends that is also a DJ cover all of my events when I was unable to perform.

Once I was able to get back to doing what I love I jumped right back in and I haven’t looked back going to hundred percent. It was definitely scary at the time though I was only 33 years old and nothing like that ever crossed my mind that I would have to deal with that at such an early age, but I think going through that only made me stronger and realize what’s important to me and to do what I love

Please tell us more about your work.
My business is Dj Rival mobile DJ service. I am DJ rival and my DJ service specializes in all events from the smallest intimate backyard get together’s to Life’s most precious moments such as grand weddings and all in between. I am known for providing the best DJ service I can to my clients.

Also paying attention to the smallest details and being able to accommodate clients request I would say one of the most proudest moments of my company was being a DJ for a wonderful little girl Who is going through a very bad health problems and her family couldn’t afford to give her a party so different businesses from the community pulled together.

And donated their services she had a great party and her family was very pleased and even KTLA news coverage of the event which was held at medieval times Buena Park I think that was my most proud moment where I could help those in need.

Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years?  Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
The way I see my industry in the next 5 to 10 years is definitely you have to get in touch with technology that’s what it’s going to be about you’re going to have to be in the know on all the latest gear and lighting and you’re definitely going to have to be social media savvy.

I made too many older DJs who are having trouble getting a lot of bookings not because of their quality but because they have not been able to grasp social media and promote online I made too many older DJs who are having trouble getting a lot of bookings not because of their quality but because they have not been able to grasp social media and promote online besides.

That I think you are going to have to care about the details of the client or you won’t survive in this business you have to compete with all of the streaming services available these days sometimes it might be easier for someone to just make a Pandora or iTunes playlist. That’s why you have to go above and beyond and make those special memories for your guests.
