Meet Jonathan Ohayon of F.A.K.E. Movement in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Ohayon.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jonathan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am an Animal rights activist and the co-founder (with my dad and brother) of the Parisian brand Arsayo! I decided to create the FAKE movement (Fashion for Animal Kingdom & Environment), a platform where all the Vegan & Ethical Designers can promote proudly their clothes and accessories! It is our responsibility to change our way of consuming. This is why F.A.K.E. movement gives you options and helps you to make that change! The more FAKERS we are, the more designers would want to create cruelty-free products ethically made. It started with “F.A.K.E. popups” on Melrose Ave. (May 2019) in the city of Los Angeles.

The events were so successful that I decided to create a Museum where people could learn more about new alternatives to animal products in fashion and how to preserve our planet and respect human rights. “Leather is not a material, it is a skin that belongs to an animal […] It has a huge negative impact on the environment and is responsible of many diseases due to all the chemical using in the process” During our FREE 25min tour, while we quickly shed light on what the fashion industry practices are, we emphasize mostly on the amazing alternatives for a better world.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Trying to change people’s habits is definitely challenging! I do many outreach with “Anonymous for the voiceless”, a non-profit organization that creates “Cube of truth”. The goal of these events is to go in famous venues, to show to pedestrians how the industry (Fashion, food, etc.) use animals and to introduce them to Veganism. I realized that people need to be open-minded to listen to what you have to say. This is why the Museum is actually the best way I found to introduce people to different alternatives for a better world, for the animals, our planet and humans!

Please tell us about F.A.K.E. Movement.
As a Designer, I know exactly what vendors are waiting for during the event we are creating! The goal of F.A.K.E. Movement is not the profits but to make the world a better place, this is what makes us strong! And when I say “us”, I mean all the FAKERS! When a vendor submits to be a part of the F.A.K.E. Pop up or Museum, he becomes a “FAKER” and will start to promote the event as if it was HIS event. The Fashion Industry needs to change, and the only way we can change it is by being united!

We have an upcoming event on August 24th

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I believed that “luck” is like “happiness”, it’s a choice! The way you catch what life is giving you! “Keep positive” is my motto, no matter what! As my dad always told me: “Everything happens for goods”. When you truly believe in that, only good luck will be on your way!
