Meet John Willenbring of WillenWorks

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Willenbring.

John, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my first technology-based business when I was 21 years old. At that time, I had almost zero IT experience other than dabbling on a computer. I originally set out to create a guide to dating in Orange County, complete with referral services and advertising. While that wasn’t a long-term success, it gave me an opportunity to learn about business, sales, and project management. Best of all, I discovered my love for developing technology.

I founded my company WillenWorks after working for IT companies that specialized in serving big corporations. While employed by those companies I could see that small business owners, like medical practices, construction companies and law firms, were being overlooked. Often these businesses don’t have the resources to hire teams of outsourced IT personnel or the knowledge to run their technology systems on their own. There appeared to be both a gap in services available and an opportunity for me. I knew I could provide affordable and efficient outsourcing for these companies.

From there, I was on a mission to help smaller businesses move forward and thrive through evolving, dependable technology. It’s that simple. I’m driven by the philosophy that if I can help a company become more profitable and successful through better technology, then my own company will inherently grow and prosper along with them. There is no catch or gimmick to this, just a combination of the experience and best practices that I’ve honed over the years and the desire to do good work that offers benefits to both sides of the work agreement. All in all, I’m happy to get up each morning. I love my work!

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth road? Sometimes it was easy; some referrals fell into my lap. Like early on, I got lucky. I bumped into an old friend who had just started a company and he hired me on the spot. Other times, yes, I’d struggle, like when I ran into a deserted stretch. The phone was dead. Leads went nowhere. But I hung in there and kept working the problem day by day. I knew I had the right skills and was willing to put in the hours. I had to constantly shift my approach, look harder for opportunities, and hold onto the dream. I’d remind myself that life isn’t always fair or easy. You have to be honest with yourself, keep your ethics high, and stay focused on where you want to go. Then, one day I realized, “Holy cow! We’re working so much there’s hardly time for anything else.” Now that’s a challenge I embrace wholeheartedly.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with WillenWorks – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Let me start out by saying what WillenWorks is NOT. This is not a huge money-driven enterprise. We are sincerely in it for the work. We want to see the companies we work for grow and prosper exactly because of the services we provide. It’s kind of like tending a garden. The success of the garden becomes your own success.

We strive to develop a real understanding of each company’s IT needs and demonstrate how much we respect and manage the quality of service they receive. We do our best to make IT outsourcing friendly, relatable, and results oriented. Our mission is to provide support so seamless that a company may not even notice what we do.

WillenWorks is a California-based company that provides small to medium sized businesses with top-notch managed IT services. We offer honest, efficient and reliable technology performance, network security, and predictable expenses. Our services include cloud integration, data backup and recovery, mobility solutions, hosted VOIP, business continuity, and more. Willenworks technicians are highly trained and background checked. I am entirely proud of my team and what we have achieved together.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity and the opportunities LA can provide. As for dislikes, there isn’t many at all. However, if I had to pick one, it would be the traffic. We drive to our customers often.
