Meet Jodie Goss

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodie Goss.

Jodie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey started 13 years ago, when I went from being a successful London-based entertainment reporter to, seemingly overnight, being bed-bound with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME). For three years, I barely functioned as the fatigue, body pain and brain fog were so overwhelming. I tried every traditional and alternative medicine to get myself well, but nothing made a lasting difference. Things felt hopeless and I wondered if I would ever feel better again.

Then one day I read an article which started me on a new road to wellness. I came across the Lightning Process (LP), a brain training program which had a strong and growing reputation in the UK for creating major shifts in the lives of thousands of people suffering with chronic conditions. With the science of the mind-body connection at its core, it looks beyond the symptoms and instead focuses on the body’s natural ability to heal.

Within a matter of weeks of finishing the course, I was back at work full time, whilst incorporating what I had learned into my everyday life. In the years that followed, my radio career continued to flourish, I got married and had two children, ran the London Marathon and moved to Los Angeles – so it’s fair to say I was once again living a full and healthy life!

I always knew that one day I wanted to give back and train as a Lightning Process practitioner so that I could share this incredible transformational program with others; so when we moved to LA for my husband to build the US arm of his company, I quit my job and seized my own opportunity.

Now I am one of only two LP practitioners in the US and am truly honored and excited to be able to teach the Lightning Process to others, encouraging clients to take an active role in their health and well-being, and teaching the tools to make incredible shifts in their lives.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jodie Goss Coaching – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The Lightning Process is a holistic training program that takes place over 3 half-days. It empowers the individual and provides tools so that they are able to actively change the way their mind and body interact which in turn enhances physical and emotional health and wellbeing.

Based on the latest scientific research, key concepts include Psychoneuroimmunology, the Physical Emergency Response (aka ‘fight or flight’) and Neuroplasticity – a lot of fancy words for some incredible brain functions. We look at unconscious patterns, behaviors and limiting beliefs that affect the mind-body connection through the nervous system, which can exacerbate different health issues. In a very relatable and digestible way, we explain how you can learn to break down and rewire these patterns.

The next step is to reset the body’s nervous system and restart the body’s natural healing process. I do this by teaching a very unique and gentle, hands-off technique that involves visualization, movement, coaching and NLP. By applying the techniques, clients stimulate better physiology and create new brain pathways bringing their nervous system to its optimal state.

The Lightning Process has helped thousands of people around the world make remarkable positive changes to a huge range of chronic conditions including Fibromyalgia, Lyme Disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, chronic pain conditions, food and chemical sensitivities, phobias, anxiety, depression and insomnia.

I cannot describe the joy I feel seeing my clients empowered to shift and transform their mind and body. They move from an unconscious state of survival to a state of growth and repair, and as a result, natural healing can take place.

Has it been a smooth road?
Having chronic fatigue, and generally being unwell, was one of the toughest times in my life. Having an ‘invisible illness’, which many people (including those in the medical profession) couldn’t fully understand, was challenging both physically and mentally. I now actively choose to position that period simply as part of my journey, and something which led me to be the person I am today.

Studying to become a Lightning Process practitioner was fairly hectic and a significant juggle! I first qualified as a Master Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner, Life Coach and Hypnotherapist before taking the LP practitioners’ training.

I was traveling back and forth to the UK to train with the creator of the LP and for two years, for every moment I wasn’t with the children, my head was in the textbooks, reading around the subject matter, or with trial clients. The amazing thing was how much the LP has helped me through these challenges. Even though I initially used the tools to improve my health, they are incredibly versatile and can be useful in many aspects of life.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Honesty, in the first instance. I always reiterate the fact that as much as I would love to ‘heal’ my clients, there is only one person who can change their neurology and that is themselves.  I can support, nurture, and teach the tools necessary, but only he or she can put those tools into practice and fundamentally make those shifts.

However, I’d like to think my knowledge on the subject, personal experience and genuine care for those I work with are a core part of their success and by association, my success as a practitioner.

The personal experience of suffering an ‘invisible illness’, has helped me to be truly empathetic and compassionate with those I work with. The dramatic shifts I’ve experienced in my own health (like thousands of others who have taken the LP) is a good example of what is possible, and it drives me to encourage and support my clients at every turn.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the hikes. I can walk to numerous trails from my house and love starting the day with an inspiring podcast whilst taking in a beautiful view.
