Jillian, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As stated in my previous post, I first found my love for event planning about 12 years ago back in New York. After working for a handful of hotels, venues, and catering companies in 3 different states, I knew it was time to start my own planning business. I moved to Los Angeles about 5 years ago, made connections the first year, and launched my business “Jillian Nicole Events” about 4 years ago. The past 5 years had been nothing but amazing, from meeting tons of vendors, touring venues, and creating beautiful events for my clients. JNE has grown very quickly, and we are so fortunate for all the love we receive from family, friends, and most importantly our amazing clients. Our team has grown to 2 lead planners, 2 assistants, and 1 marketing employee. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the love and support of my husband, family, and clients. We are so grateful and can’t wait to see what else is in store for our future.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. There are a lot of ups and downs when you own your own business. As most of the venues and vendors know, when working in the event industry there are always obstacles that come up before, during, and after events. Thinking on your feet and staying calm when things go wrong at events is very important. One of the biggest challenges has been training my team to perform as I would at events. Training employees takes time, patience, and practice. But our team is thriving!
