Meet Jennifer Keeler and Heather Andrews of RISE in Ojai

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Keeler and Heather Andrews.

Jennifer and Heather, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We are both LA trained stylists. We met and bonded over the desire to bring a premium hair experience to Ojai. Both of us have personal connections to Ojai— Jen grew up here and also came back to start her family, and Heather took many trips to Ojai during her childhood. We have joined forces to create a space for quality service and beauty artistry in the town we love.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Well, I imagine no road to a successful business isn’t without struggles! But all in all, we feel really fortunate to be in business in this wonderful community.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the RISE story. Tell us more about it.
We are a boutique salon in the heart of Ojai. We specialize in all things hair, from color to extensions to special events. We also offer nail services as well as makeup.

We take pride in the atmosphere we’ve created. The salon itself is located in a small bungalow house that has been designed (by the amazing Jess Diab) to feel welcoming and warm. Guests feel comfortable interacting with each other and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

One of our main intentions is to support our local community. We do this by opening our space to local businesses to have pop-up shops, serving our guest’s local beverages, donating services to many local fundraising events as well. For example, this year on mother’s day, we gifted 5 deserving mothers to beauty services. We also donate to the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy which does wonder to keep our Ojai land magical.

We are always looking to immerse ourselves further into our community.

Our commitment to each other, the other women who work here, and our amazing community, is what keeps us going.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Meeting each other has felt like the only luck we’ve come across actually! The rest of our good fortune has come from old fashioned hard work and determination.
