Meet Ibla Hanna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ibla Hanna.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have always been an artist since I was young. I use to oil paint, draw, and watercolor on paper and canvas, but also explored painting on my valuables such as bags and boxes because I wanted to put my artistic hands on everything!

Growing up, I continued my studies in Graphic Design/Visual Communication at CSULA. Since then, my love for design grew fonder where it showed in my studies being one of the top students in class. While studying at CSULA, I joined GAUGE student group of AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) for a greater experience in the field. Meanwhile, I completed internships and side jobs at different design and marketing agencies in LA such as CSPG (Center of Political Graphics), BWC (Beth Whiffen Communications), Mediakicks, and most importantly Made In Space who is owned by the renowned designer April Greiman.

Today, I am based in the Beirut city in Lebanon. I work as a Graphic Designer and Marketing Specialist in the Food and Beverage field in one of the top leading restaurants in the Middle East region. In addition, I maintain my freelance work as a designer and art director. I do believe that design is lifestyle. It connects business, fashion and freedom of speech, and is a marketing treasure with an artistic personality.

Please tell us about your art.
I work on a humanistic approach to achieve great visual communication. I create branding, art direction, and visual contemporary art. In branding, I focus most on the personality of the business in order to portray it beautifully with color and shape. I do believe that each business should be special and unique in its own form in order to attract the right audience. I thrive to create genuine brands that focus on the brand’s character rather than the designer’s skills.

In art direction and contemporary art, I manipulate images of everyday life to resemble a story of how we feel in the moment. I setup and shoot artistic visuals or scenes that initiate a certain daydream feeling while using sarcasm as a weapon.

I love giving audiences a sense of stylish imagination to certain moments we encounter. My imagery allows them to appreciate the small things in life in order to give value of what we take for granted. I want audiences to dream of the perfect moment with sarcastic intuition and enjoy its natural colors, shapes and spaces.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
As an artist, I believe that constant learning and research is part of success since our field evolves drastically. Your special personality and style always win best since that is what differentiates you than the rest. This leads me to believe that each artist should not base design as a “trend” by using colors, shapes and fonts that are temporarily popular in the now, but base design as a “style” that allows them to be creative and unique in order to break through social design trends and lead on new ones that last lifetimes. The best and last characteristic to adopt is “to have fun!” Any project can go from good to great by just having fun with it without the reasoning.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My work is on my website: www.ebladesign.com and on my Instagram / Facebook page Ebla design. The best support is to follow me on Instagram and Facebook in order to fill your feed with great inspiration! I also provide branding for businesses and art direction for photography shoots.
