Hardy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My full name is Ruben Hardy Vibert, but in California, I’m known as Hardy Hollywood. I’m the founder and owner of PHH Hospitality Group, Hollywood. We specialize in events promotion and throwing that unforgettable party. I was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. I always had a way of throwing extraordinary parties and that passion has evolved into something I could never even have imagined. My fascination with partying grew stronger as the parties got bigger and better.
I moved out to California in 2012 to pursue a degree in Computer Science. The idea was to begin the second chapter of my life, ‘grow up” in a new city with new faces. I never dreamed that Hollywood would take this passion for partying and turn it into a career. It seems that my fascination with the glitz of the nightlife, and the Hollywood glam proved to be the perfect combination for igniting my dreams.
Soon after arriving, I landed my first job at the PlayHouse NightClub. That was back in 2012. I must admit that I owe a lot to the people over at PlayHouse NightClub. They were my foot in the door to enter the elite Hollywood nightlife scene. PlayHouse saw something in me that I wasn’t confident enough yet to see myself. They hired me with almost no experience at all – just a boatload of energy and drive.
People say many good things about the host I am today, but in truth, it was PlayHouse NightClub that gave me that first opportunity to hone my skills. It made me the person I am in the industry today.
That had been the catalyst for launching my promotion company under the name PHH Promotions. Years of experience have given me that insider knowledge on how to make any party success in Hollywood. This reputation for outstanding parties allows us to attract the Hollywood elite to our events.
Today, it is my firm belief that work should be fun, and my idea of good business is to turn clients into friends. Nightlife experience has taught me to be sentimentally involved with all the promotions. I prioritize customer support, which helps create a win-win situation for my clients and myself. Also, happy clients help me build my reputation.
I’m proud of what my team’s been able to achieve and look forward to what’s to come. The nightlife industry in Hollywood is huge and we’re looking to shake things up, bringing bigger and better with every event.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In nightlife, I feel that it’s all about who you surround yourself with. Way back, when I first began, long before Hollywood, I honestly wasn’t hosting with the best crowds at all. That could have been the make or break for me, especially in this industry. Fortunately, lady luck had other plans and put the right people on my path. I soon realized the value of surrounding yourself with the type of people you aspire to be and associating yourself with the type of venues you want to host for.
Other than that, our industry is all about late nights and going big. Managing my energy has been a learning curve. It’s easy to burn out. I counter this by staying fit, working out, and taking care of myself in my off-hours.
Similarly, separating my personal life from my business has also been a challenge. I enjoy my work so much, it’s easy for it to take over my life. Prioritizing the things, other than work, that make up my personal life is very important to me.
Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others
My Company PHH Hospitality Group specializes in the Hospitality/ Events sector in Hollywood, California. We specialize in hosting VIP Events at A-list Venues throughout Beverly Hills and Hollywood.
What I’m most proud of is the team I’ve put together. Years of experience in Hollywood has allowed me to rub shoulders with the best, and some of the best in the industry have partnered with me to create the ultimate events company.
