Today we’d like to introduce you to Hanan Lancaster.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Hanan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
.I got my first taste of television in college while at Howard University, my roommate worked on the set of Friends at the Warner Brothers Studios. I used to visit her and hang out on set and it was amazing. Initially I did acting/modeling work, while a great experience I knew I belonged behind the camera.
While earning my MBA at the University of Notre Dame in addition to business strategy, I also dabbled in media relations and communications. As projects and opportunities began to come my way, I began moving towards entertainment projects. My business acumen, strategy and creativity were the perfect fit for production, every experience I had created thus far, prepared me to take on the business of television, In the Zone Films LLC was founded in 2015. The moment I found myself behind a camera I felt like I was home.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success is not a straight line, this quote sums up my experiences. I am very grateful for the time I spent in other industries because entertainment is a mix of everything. In order to be successful you have to have working knowledge of all aspects of the business including legal contracts, management, marketing, pitching, recruiting and working with talent…. and that’s before you ever pick up a camera or capture footage. In The Zone Films has a great team and we frequently collaborate with other creatives. This allows us to expand our resources, leverage outside expertise and create key relationships. We love partnering with other production companies and artists to bring concepts to life!
In The Zone Films – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
In The Zone Films is a boutique production company. We are passionate about creating quality content that is engaging and feels good. Our motto is “Entertainment is empowerment.” We focus on collaboration to bring innovative concepts and fresh ideas to audiences around the world.
Currently, we have several projects in the works including an unscripted series in development. For this series we are reaching out to the community to continue to assist people who would like to save their failing relationships. We are in the process of casting.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Our first day on set, knowing that we did it!!
