Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Frehr.
Greg, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
At 22, I started my love for design and furniture fabrication. Through exploring the furniture creation process at such an early age, I quickly realized I had a large passion for this industry. My personal journey has led me to the creation of SwingTables and beyond. During the first year of creation, my Mother, Denise played a huge role in the growth of the company. Because of her entrepreneurial background we decided to bring her onto the team. This led to the formation of the mother & son partnership that runs the company today.
Our experience and craftsmanship has taken SwingTables to new and exciting places. Each project is treated with the utmost care and a quality product is our number one focus. Founded in New York City, we have just expanded our offices into the Los Angeles area within the past year. With foundations in furniture building, we thoroughly enjoy the fabrication process. In order to focus on the rapid growth of the company, we have developed relationships with many skilled manufacturers who we now outsource production too.
Has it been a smooth road?
Where is the fun in a smooth road!? Haha. Our road has been more like a highway undergoing construction.. at times you’re riding along smoothly at a nice speed and then out of nowhere you’re on an unpaved patch of road with pebbles spitting up all around you. I would say most of our struggles along the way we’re a result of not knowing where to put our marketing dollars. We spent so much time and money on trade shows, magazines, etc.. to find that the best outlet for marketing our product was social media. The journey has been fun and I’m looking forward to smoother roads in our future!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the SwingTables story. Tell us more about the business.
Our table are unique in that they foster communal relationships through movement while providing the full-functionality of a traditional table. Our tables are proven to bring real benefit to communal work environments. They help people with ADHD concentrate on the work at hand, use movement to get creative juices flowing, and have a unique ability to bring people together for meetings or socially – there is something special about sitting next to a co-worker, friend, or stranger on a swing that brings out a shared child-like joy. We offer a variety of model options fully customizable to our client needs. Each SwingTable is one of a kind piece. I would say I’m most proud of our clientele. We’ve supplied SwingTables to Microsoft, Google, Virgin Hotels, Reddit, Quickbooks, Kevin Hart, Sphero, and so many lovely homes.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I would like to work on getting our SwingTables built in bulk in order to lower the price so more people can experience the joy from sitting at one of our tables. I would love to see our SwingTables in Costcos all over the United States.
